Features a larger Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine along with cosmetic and mechanical updates

The Low Rider S is the third member from Harley-Davidson’s Softail family. Features a new front fascia and bronzed aluminium alloy wheels. It packs a 1,868cc V-twin that puts out 155Nm of torque. Gets tweaked underpinnings and revised ergonomics.

A few weeks ago, Harley-Davidson revealed its BS6 lineup for India which included the Fat Boy, Low Rider, Forty-Eight and the Forty-Eight Special. The missing link though was the Low Rider S from Harley-Davidson’s Softail family. Well, it’s here now and it’s priced at Rs 14,69,000 (ex-showroom India) -- a premium of Rs 94,000 over the standard Low Rider. The new cruiser comes equipped with a larger engine, cosmetic updates, tweaked mechanicals and revised ergonomics.

For starters, the Low Rider S now draws power from a Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine, Harley Davidson’s largest engine for the Softail family. The 1868cc V-twin powerhouse belts out 155Nm, an increment of 10Nm over the 1745cc Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine seen on the Low Rider.

Additional changes come in the form of mechanical updates such as a chunky USD fork like the one seen on the Fat Bob. It also gets a twin-disc setup at the front, which should improve braking performance significantly.

Cosmetic changes include a new LED headlight and a round black bikini fairing along with bronzed aluminium alloy wheels. In fact, even the LED tail light has a light smoke finished cover.

There are several other updates that have gone into the 2020 Low Rider S, and you can read more about our first impressions on our sister site ZigWheels. Expect the American manufacturer’s dealerships across the country to start rolling out the Low Rider S once the current lockdown is lifted.
