TVS Jupiter 125

The TVS Jupiter 125 comes with an LED headlight and LED DRLs (daytime running lights), whereas the tail light and indicators use bulbs. Like other TVS bikes and scooters, the build quality is excellent, and the switches feel really premium. In fact, we believe they are one of the best in this segment. Our test scooter had an attractive orange colour scheme with shiny metal flakes, and the paint job was really impressive. We liked the design of the taillight and the back panel. However, we weren't as impressed with the front of the scooter. The LED headlight is sharp, but the design of the indicator and the chrome strip above it looks very similar to the Activa 125. It would have been better if the Jupiter 125 had a more unique front design.

Powering the Jupiter 125 is a 124.8cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 8.15PS and 10.5Nm and TVS claims it's different from the one in the NTorq 125. They tuned it to give better performance at city speeds.

While it might not be as fast as the Ntorq, the Jupiter 125 feels lively when accelerating from 0 to 40kmph. It also picks up speed in a smooth and linear manner from 20 to 60kmph, which is handy for city commuting. After 70kmph, it slowly gains speed. On the TVS test track, we managed to reach around 90kmph on it.

Weighing in at 109kg, the Jupiter 125 feels quite light and easy to handle. It turns quickly, as most scooters do, but doesn't feel unstable when you lean into corners. The credit goes to its big 12-inch wheels on both ends, which add stability even though the tyres are a bit thin at 90/90 size.

What sets the Jupiter 125 apart is that it's the only scooter in its class with gas-charged rear shocks that you can adjust for preload without any tools. And that means that riders of different weights can adjust the scooter according to their preferences. The scooter provides a comfortable ride and handles bumps easily. The version we tested had an optional 220mm front disc brake, similar to the Jupiter 110, but it delivered excellent braking. Plus, the scooter comes with Combined Braking System (CBS) as a standard feature.

The Jupiter 125 comes equipped with a broad and comfortable seat with decent padding, ensuring a comfortable ride for both the rider and the passenger. The seat offers an upright and relaxed riding position. However, shorter riders might need to sit a bit forward since the front part of the seat is a bit wide, ensuring both feet touch the ground properly.

With its wide and easy-to-reach handlebar and a spacious floorboard, the scooter is very comfortable for taller riders (up to about six feet two inches). There's enough room for their knees, making the ride very comfortable.

The TVS Jupiter 125 offers an upright riding position. The handlebar is set high, and even during u-turns, it did not cause any issues for our 5-foot-10-inch tall rider. There's so much space on the footboard that even with size-11 shoes, there's more space left. The seat on the Jupiter 125 (which is 65mm longer than the one on Jupiter 110) is the longest in its class. 

With a seat height of 765mm, it's the lowest in its class, but the wide seat might be a challenge for shorter riders.

The Jupiter 125 from TVS comes packed with lots of cool features. It has a start/stop system that automatically turns off the engine when you stop for a few seconds and restarts when you pull the rear brake and twist the accelerator a bit. There's also an LED light under the seat for better visibility of the storage space in low light conditions. There’s also a brake lock, and you can choose to have a USB charging port too. The dashboard has a mix of digital and analogue parts – the speedometer is analogue, while the LCD screen shows real-time mileage, overall mileage, two trip metres, reserve range, and a side-stand indicator.

One smart move by TVS is putting the fuel tank under the footboard, which gives the Jupiter 125 a massive 33-litre of underseat storage space – the biggest for any 125cc scooter in India. You can even fit two ISI-certified helmets under there. The scooter also has a 2-litre compartment below the handlebar, where you can keep your smartphone, water bottle, or other stuff. They even offer an optional USB charging port there.

With the SmartXonnect variant, the Jupiter 125 gets a TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation, call & SMS alerts, music control and voice assist.

The floorboard space is one of the best, and even has enough space for an LPG gas cylinder. However, we strongly advise against it due to safety concerns.

TVS designers and engineers focused on making the Jupiter 125 super convenient. They did this by putting the fuel tank under the floorboard and because of this the fuel filler cap is now located below the handlebar, and you can easily reach it with your key. This means you can ride to a petrol pump, and fill up the tank without even getting off your scooter.

The TVS Jupiter 125 is an excellent scooter – it is very comfortable and practical for daily rides. The engine works well, and it gives good mileage for a 125cc scooter. However, it's a bit more expensive compared to its competitors.
