Ducati Streetfighter V4 Unveiled At Ducati World Premiere

Beware, Kawasaki. The Italians are here and they have a lighter and more powerful monster with them!

The Streetfighter gets the same motor as the V4, but the power is down by 3PS. Interestingly, the engine is not Euro 5/BS6-compliant as of now.  It will be available in two variants: standard and ‘S.’

If you have been on the internet for the past couple of hours then you might know that it’s abuzz with Kawasaki unveiling the Z H2, a 1000cc supercharged naked motorcycle. But it seems Ducati wants to steal Kawasaki’s limelight by unveiling the much-awaited Streetfighter V4! Just like the Panigale V4, the Streetfighter is available in two variants: standard and S. We expect Ducati to add a more hardcore ‘R’ variant to its lineup in the future. 

The Streetfighter V4 gets the same wings as its faired cousin and the Italian bike maker claims that these can produce 28kg of downforce at 270kmph! Why does this bike need so much downforce? Well, because the V4 Desmosedici Stradale motor that is nestled inside the frame belts out an earth-shattering 211PS and 123Nm. The S variant, on the other hand, gets an Akrapovic exhaust system, which pushes the power to a mental 223PS and 130Nm! Even at 211PS, it is now officially the most powerful naked motorcycle ever! The MV Agusta Brutale 1000 Serie Oro takes the second place with 208HP (210.8PS). 

In terms of electronics, there are tonnes of rider aids to keep this naked beast planted to the ground. It gets a 6-axis IMU-assisted traction control, slide control and ABS, along with launch control, wheelie control, engine brake control and a bi-directional quickshifter.

In essence, the Streetfighter V4 is just a naked variant of the Panigale V4. The only major difference between the variants is at the front, plus the different side panels. The litre-class naked motorcycle gets a new front end with a twin projector LED headlamp. While the standard variant comes equipped with an upside-down 43mm Showa fork at the front and Sachs monoshock at the rear, both fully adjustable, the top-spec S variant gets an electronic suspension setup from Ohlins. Additionally, in a bid to reduce weight, the top-end variant gets Marchesini forged aluminium wheels. 

The Streetfighter V4 is Euro 4-compliant for now, as the European countries have received an extension of one year to update their model portfolio to meet the new emission norms. Hence, Ducati could bring it to India by 2021 once it adheres to the new emission norms.
