2022 KTM 390 Adventure Unveiled Abroad

The updated 390 Adventure is likely to arrive in India early next year 

Gets two new colour options and electronic upgrades  No change to the mechanicals.  Could command a premium over the existing model priced at around Rs 3.28 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)

KTM has unveiled the 2022 390 Adventure globally. It will arrive at dealerships abroad in January 2022, followed by its India launch. The new-gen adventure tourer has received cosmetic and crucial feature upgrades while remaining the same mechanically.

The 2022 KTM 390 Adventure gets two new colour options: black (with orange-coloured graphics) and orange (with teal graphics and highlights). There are two traction control modes: Street and Off-road; the latter remains activated for a short while even if the bike is stationary or the rider has had a fall.

The six-spoke alloys make way for reinforced five-spoke cast 19-17-inch wheels claimed to offer improved resistance and stiffness, and this should further aid off-roading. Moreover, these wheels come wrapped in tubeless Continental TKC 70 tyres. That said, we hope KTM brings us a set of spoke wheels as an accessory soon. 

Other aspects of the motorcycle, including the engine, transmission, and the tall and rugged design are the same as before.

The 390 Adventure features a windscreen up front, LED headlight, a 5-inch coloured TFT instrument cluster, sharp tank extensions, an underbelly pan, split-type seats, raised exhaust, and a 14.5-litre fuel tank. 

The 2022 model draws power from the same 373cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine (paired with a six-speed transmission and slipper clutch) that churns out 43.5PS and 37Nm.. 

The ride is taken care of by WP APEX 43 USD front forks and a WP APEX rear monoshock. Meanwhile, for braking, it uses disc brakes at both ends assisted by Bosch 9.1MP dual-channel cornering ABS. 

We expect the 2022 KTM 390 Adventure to be priced at a premium over its predecessor. For reference, the 2021 model in India retails at Rs 3,28,286 (ex-showroom Delhi) and competes with the Royal Enfield Himalayan and BMW G310 GS.
