About Hero Xtreme
November 24, 2015: Hero Xtreme is the most popular 150cc bike in its segment that got its major update in April last year. The refreshed bike now comes with an all new design with some unique features like 'highbrow' LED DRLs. One of the most appreciated addition to the bike is its space age styled digital analog cluster. The bike features 150cc, air-cooled engine that generates a maximum power of 14.2bhp along with a decent fuel efficiency. The machine is equipped with front disc brake as standard and rear disc brake as an option.

At the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer company, Hero had unfolded many upcoming models that were to be launched in some time. At the event, the company had rolled out 15 model including the restyled model of its old 150cc motorcycle, Xtreme. This redesigned bike gets lots of amazing
features that make it look more appealing and likable. Hero Xtreme was first introduced in 2008 and till now it is doing well in the Indian market. It is quite interesting to see that the bike maker is working on the convenience and comfort for the customers of this bike rather than modifying the bike and making it better in terms of visual appeal only. The manufacturer offers two variants of the bike namely, Hero Xtreme Single Disc and Hero Xtreme Double Disc. To make the bike more resistant and strong, the company has designed it on a Tubular, Diamond Type frame.
The maker of the machine uses the same engine that was used in its previous version and the mill generates 14.2 Bhp of power and 12.8 Nm of torque. The all new Xtreme lacks the undercowl, integrated blinkers, and plain edges. Furthermore, the bike features ten-spoke alloy wheels, front and rear suspensions. Besides this, it also sports some new element that enhanced its look that are, sporty headlights with Day Running Lights (DRLs), LED tail light, wider rear tyre, dual finish sporty muffler, analog plus digital instrument cluster and an under the seat mobile charger.
Design
Hero Xtreme is a sports commuter 150cc motorcycle on which the rider can not only commute but can also perform many stunts. It comes with an overall measurement of 2060 mm in length, 765 mm in width, 1145 mm in height along with 1325 mm of wheelbase, that makes it extremely comfortable and easy to control for different type of rides. It has 145mm of ground clearance, which is quite low and offers better stability around the corners. The kerb weight for the single disc machine is 145 kg and for Double Disc, it is 146 kg. The design of the bike has been improved and the front profile of the bike has become more impressive with the new visor and highbrow position lights. The instrument console of the bike comprises of an analog tachometer, digital speedometer, trip meter, odometer, fuel level and few other vital pieces of information about the machine.
The all new Xtreme equipped with new graphics and new color scheme. It is now available in five colors namely: Blue, Orange, Red, Silver, and Black. The manufacturer also integrated the bike with dual finish sporty muffler along with wider rear tyre, that not only looks sporty but also improves the grip on the road. Furthermore, the bike is fitted with an easy to access under seat storage where the rider can easily keep his phone for charging. It has a well-padded split seat that offer optimum comfort to the rider as well pillion, individually. Apart from this, its rear grab rail comes wrapped in chrome.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
Hero is using the same engine for powering the bike. The bike is propelled by 149.22cc, Air cooled, 4 - stroke single cylinder OHC that comes linked to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. The mill of the bike is tuned to develop a maximum power of 14.2Ps at an 8500 rpm along with a peak torque of 12.8Nm at 6500 rpm. With this setup, the motorcycle can not only sprint from 0 to 60kmph in around 5 seconds but also can achieve a top speed of around 110kmph. The maker has also used CV (Constant Vacuum) along with CCVI (Carburetor Controlled Variable Ignition) as its fuel system. The ignition used to start the mill is an Advanced Microprocessor Ignition System. It has a 12.1 liter capacity of the fuel tank by which is quite useful for this machine offering a mileage of around 60 kmpl.
Handling & Ride Quality
Hero Xtreme runs on 80 / 100 x 18 – 47 P front and 110 / 90 x 18 - 61 P rear tubeless tyres that further fitted over alloy wheels. The bike equipped with 240mm disc brake at the front and 220mm disc brake at the rear, that offers a sound stopping power to the machine. Furthermore, it also features a suspension system that comprises of Telescopic Hydraulic Type up front and Rectangular Swing Arm with 5 step Adjustable Gas Reservoir at the rear. The rear suspension of the machine stabilizes and reduces the weight of the pillion rider while enhancing the stability and control of the rider over the machine.

Hero Xtreme rides on 80 / 100 x 18 – 47 P and 110 / 90 x 18 - 61 P wider tubeless tyres that offer nice grip on the terrains and reduces the chance of sudden downshifts in the case of a puncture. It boasts an engine immobilizer that prevents it from getting stolen. Furthermore, it comes with 12 V -35 W / 35W - Halogen bulb – Trapezoidal Multi - Reflector type headlamp that ensures the good visibility at the night.
