The XSR125 Legacy variant has been unveiled featuring both functional and aesthetic updates over the standard model

The Yamaha XSR125 Legacy comes with spoke wheels shod with block-pattern tyres. Also gets an exclusive livery and a new aluminium muffler cover. Will be available in Europe from June 2022.

The Yamaha XSR125 is the Japanese bikemaker’s smallest neo-retro motorcycle, and it just got even more retro with the unveiling of the new Yamaha XSR125 Legacy variant in Europe. The motorcycle will be available in European dealerships from June 2022.

Yamaha has draped the Legacy variant in an exclusive Black colour scheme with gold and silver livery. The Yamaha and XSR125 logos are in gold, complementing the silver and gold pinstripes on the bodywork. More importantly, the motorcycle gets spoke wheels with aluminium rims finished in gold, wrapped with Metzeler Karoo block pattern rubber for optimum trail-friendly performance. Rounding off the package is the new two-piece aluminium exhaust cover, which looks more premium than the matte black unit in the standard variant.

Apart from these changes, the rest of the bike remains the same as the standard variant. It is powered by a Euro5-compliant 124cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine churning out 14.95PS and 11.5Nm, working alongside a 6-speed transmission. Underpinnings include a 37mm inverted front fork, rear monoshock, 17-inch spoke wheels, and a 267mm front and 220mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. Other notable features include an LED headlight and tail lamp, and a full LCD instrument cluster with MyRide smartphone connectivity sans turn-by-turn navigation.

The new Legacy variant gives the XSR125 a more authentic flavour, and we hope the Japanese bikemaker incorporates these changes into the Yamaha XSR155 and other bigger XSR series bikes soon. Sadly, this motorcycle will not make it to India as Yamaha had instead chosen to offer the FZ-X, based on the existing 150cc Yamaha FZ platform.
