Bajaj V12 Gets Disc Brake Variant For Rs 60,000

The V12 earlier came only with a drum brake at the front.
Bajaj expanded the 'V' lineup of its bikes with the V12, a more affordable twin of the V15. It had a smaller motor, skinnier tyres and no disc brake at the front. But now, Bajaj has launched a disc-brake variant of the V12 which is priced at Rs 60,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The disc has brought with it a price hike of Rs 3,000 from the drum-brake variant and the cost difference between this and the V15 is now down to just Rs 3,000.
The V12, although looks the same as its elder brother, gets subtle changes. For starters, the graphics of the V12 get the same pattern but a slightly different contrast. Another change is that the alloys get a simple 5-spoke pattern and not twin-spoke units of the V15. The digital fuel gauge of the V15 has made way for an analogue one and the ring around the ignition keyhole is plastic. But, the bike retains some of the key elements of the V15's appeal like the rear seat cowl and the fuel cap made from the INS Vikrant's metal.
The motor in the V12 is a 125cc single cylinder which produces 10.7PS at 7500rpm and 11Nm at 5500rpm. Comparing with the competitors, the power output is at par with other 125s in the segment but the torque output is higher, helping it feel more responsive in the city. The V12 rivals with bikes like the Honda CB Shine SP, TVS Phoenix 125 and the Hero Glamour. With the front disc-brake, it is priced significantly higher than others in the segment but the V12's looks and the patriotic appeal might just work in its favour.
