Looks like TVS is gearing up to bring out a Kinetic e-Luna rival!

TVS might be working on an electric version of one its long-standing workhorses, the XL 100, as its design patent has been leaked online. This move will further expand the manufacturer’s EV portfolio which currently consists of the iQube scooters with another upcoming e-scooter, possibly based on the Creon e-scooter, not very far away.

As we can see from the leaked image, the e-moped will share design similarities with the petrol-powered version. As such, it’ll get a round headlight, telescopic fork and dual rear shock-absorber setup, spoked wheels with drum brakes at both ends and a split-seat setup. Even the frame seems to be more or less similar to the petrol-powered one.

The battery pack is mounted below the floorboard and a swingarm-attached motor accompanied by a belt drive. Mounting the motor on the swingarm eliminates the need to adjust for slacks in the drive. The range is expected to be sub-100km on a single charge. Another advantage of using a swingarm mounted motor and not a hub unit is that it allows TVS to use a conventional wheel that is easy to repair in case of a puncture.

The petrol-powered TVS 100 XL is powered by a 99.7cc, single-cylinder engine producing 4.3PS and 6.5Nm with a kerb weight of 88kg and a payload capacity of 130kg.

It’ll be a while before the TVS XL 100 e-moped is launched as it is still under development. When launched, it’ll compete against the upcoming Kinetic Green e-Luna, whose visuals were leaked sometime ago and is in the development stage as well.
