About Mahindra MOJO UT 300
The 2019 Mahindra Mojo UT 300 has been spotted outside a dealership. There’s no official confirmation yet, but we expect the company to launch the updated variant soon. It might look similar to the outgoing model, but the test mule was spotted in a new black paint option, which is not available in the current model.
To comply with the new emission norms, the upcoming Mojo UT 300 could get fuel injection. It will be powered by the same 294.72cc engine as the previous model though. This motor produces 23.1PS and a peak torque of 25.2Nm, paired to a 6-speed transmission. The bike gets 17-inch MRF tyres, semi-digital instrument cluster, a fuel tank of 21 litres and twin-pod headlamp. The front features telescopic fork with 143.5mm of suspension travel, instead of USD front suspension setup of the Mojo XT 300. Compared to the older model, the spied test mule comes with a crucial update in the form of dual-channel ABS with its Bybre braking hardware.
We expect the 2019 Mojo UT 300 to command a premium of around Rs 10,000-15,000 over the current model, which retails for Rs 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It will rival the Royal Enfield Classic 350 (Rs 1.53 lakh), Jawa (Rs 1.64 lakh) and the Bajaj Dominar 400 (Rs 1.74 lakh).

MOJO UT 300 Expert Review
Mahindra Mojo UT 300 is a lower priced variant of the Mojo. The UT stands for Universal Tourer. The Mojo UT 300 is all about touring at an affordable price tag. The bike is similar to its older sibling in terms of chassis, looks, performance, safety and features, however with a twist. Like it doesn’t come with
the Upside Down front forks, Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres, fuel injection system, twin exhaust setup, LED DRLs and dual-tone colour options as seen on the XT 300. This is to cut down the cost and invite more customers to the camp. Despite the exclusion of the famous Mojo features, the new UT300 retains the touring ability and sports an upright riding position, an extended fuel tank capacity of 21 litres and a partial-digital instrument console for essential readouts. The braking setup remains same as on the XT 300 and there is still no ABS for the new Mojo tourer. Claimed to offer unmatched comfort and superior handling, the new Mojo UT 300 looks the finest piece of metal and capable of offering sleepless nights to rivals like Bajaj Dominar 400 and RE Thunderbird 350X.
Design
The UT 300 tourer borrows the design cues from its sibling, Mojo XT 300, looks identical on multiple grounds but looses out on some of the plush elements from the standard Mojo like USD front forks, LED DRLs, Pirelli premium tyres, twin exhaust and gold accents. Considering it to be a cost-effective production model of the existing Mojo, it certainly has the character to grab attention. It features twin-pod headlamp upfront, a chiselled 21-litre fuel tank, a chrome-dipped redesigned exhaust with refined bass, a comfortable single seat unit, split section black rear grab rail, a fairly raised back and a stylish tail section with LED taillight. The bike also features an eye-catchy instrument console for necessary readouts; tachometer gets the analogue presentation while the rest of the information is displayed on the LCD screen in a digital format. The bike gets an upright riding position just like its sibling and the 17-inch black alloy wheels with tubeless MRF rubber in contrast to the XT 300 which has Pirelli Diable Rosso II tyres. The Mojo UT 300 is up for grab in two colors, blue and red, which make the bike look bold and adventure-ready.
Dimensionally, it is 15mm longer and 15mm lower than the standard Mojo, measuring 2115mm long, 800mm wide and 1150mm high. The ground clearance of the UT 300 sits at 165mm and the wheelbase at 1460mm as against the XT 300’s 173.5mm and 1465mm respectively.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
On the mechanical front, the UT 300 is powered by the single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, carburetted 294.72cc engine that churns out a max power of 23.1PS at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 25.2Nm at 5,500rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission system. The fuel injection system has been ditched for a carburetted fuel system to cut down the cost and to make it a mass buy.
Handling & Ride Quality
The new UT 300 has been built on the twin tube frame similar to the Mojo XT 300. However, riding the UT 300 won’t be same as the XT 300 due to the lack of USD front forks. The bike sports telescopic front fork with 143.5mm travel suspension and the high-pressure adjustable preload gas-charged mono shock absorbers with 135mm travel suspension at the back. On the braking front, it gets discs of diameter 320mm at the front and 240mm at the rear. The wheels of diameter 17-inches are shod with 110/70-17 and 140/70-17 section MRF tubeless tyres at the front and rear respectively. The combination of brakes and suspension looks ideal for Indian roads while the upright riding position is good enough to offer relaxed long-distance ride experience.
Features
The safety department has features like disc braking mechanism for instant stop, MRF Zappers for adequate grip and the twin-pod headlamp for the brighter view of the road.
