We compare the small-capacity special edition Japanese supersports through detailed images

Honda recently launched the CBR150R Repsol Edition in Malaysia. The idea of having race-replica livery on small-capacity supersports isn’t new, and we have the Yamaha R15M WorldGP 60th Anniversary Edition on sale in India. Here’s how the two special edition Japanese supersports fare against each other:

Both motorcycles don new liveries inspired by their factory team’s MotoGP missiles. However, while the Honda CBR150R features livery inspired by the current HRC RC213V, Yamaha has used its iconic ‘Speed Block’ livery to commemorate its Grand Prix prowess.

Yamaha and Honda have used LED illumination for these small-capacity supersports. The R15M packs a single LED projector headlight flanked by LED DRLs inspired by the R7. Meanwhile, the CBR150R’s unit is styled after the flagship CBR1000RR-R.

The Yamaha R15M and the Honda CBR150R get LCD instrument consoles. Both consoles display comprehensive data, but the R15M has an edge over the Honda thanks to its connectivity features.

The Yamaha R15M packs a liquid-cooled single-cylinder 155cc engine developing 18.4PS at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm at 7500rpm. Meanwhile, the CBR150R gets a 149.16cc liquid-cooled mill that makes 16.3PS and 13.7Nm. And even though both bikes flaunt a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch, the R15M gets a quickshifter too.

Both bikes have similar underpinnings starting with a USD fork and monoshock suspension setup, disc brakes at both ends, and they run on 17-inch alloy wheels.

The Honda CBR150R Repsol Edition has been priced at RM 13,4999 (approximately Rs 2.42 lakh), while the R15M WorldGP 60th Anniversary Edition costs Rs 1,88,800 (ex-showroom Delhi).
