Finally, Royal Enfield has unveiled its awaited adventure tourer- Himalayan in pictures and videos and going to showcase it on February 2, so here we are showing you the motorcycle in an image gallery. Mr. Siddhartha Lal, CEO, Royal Enfield has also written a blog about the idea behind Himalayan, its development, testing and the final product. The bike is looking quite promising and it will fulfill the dream of lots of Indian enthusiasts who want to buy an adventure motorcycle but can't afford those that are currently available in the country.

The Himalayan is a very different motorcycle than any available RE in the market and it keeps the true spirit of an adventure machine. The motorcycle is light and sports a new torquey engine, christened as LS400 that makes around 25hp of power. The new motor is also a long stroke one like the existing engines of the company, however, it is much lighter, advanced and misses the thumper feel. The single-cylinder, 4-stroke engine is air-cooled and comes with an oil-cooler to maintain the performance in varying temperature conditions. The high-endurance motor has a service interval of 10,000kms and you need to change the spark plugs after 25,000kms.

RE Himalayan runs on durable spoke wheels with on-road and off-road compatible tyres and a disc brake on each. The large front wheel of the bike is 21" in diameter, it can go through every hurdle on or off the road easily. It also gets high-performance suspension set-up comprising of front telescopic forks and rear mono-shock to challenge any terrain. The bike has a multifunctional console as per its concept and purpose. Royal Enfield Himalayan has been designed to travel, so you can carry lots of luggage on it along with a pillion rider.

The bike is looking a complete package for your adventure rides as well as long journeys, and it is expected to be launched with a price tag between Rs. 1.6 - 1.8 lac in India.
