The e-scooter was spotted during an advertisement shoot

(UPDATE: The Ola S1 has been launched in India with a starting price of Rs 99,999. Head here to read the launch story)

Just a few hours after its pre-bookings commenced, the Ola Electric Scooter has been spotted in the flesh at what seems like an advertisement shoot. While there are just a handful of pictures, there’s a lot to note. Let’s take a look:

Colours

Recently, Bhavish Aggarwal, Co-founder of Ola Cabs, had posted about “spraying paint” on the upcoming scooter and that’s exactly what the company has done. Spy shots reveal two new colour options -- pink and blue -- in addition to the matte black shade. These colours add life to the overall sober appearance of the e-scooter. However, Ola hasn’t opted for any sort of graphics.

Features

Now we already knew the Ola e-scooter would be pretty modern and recent images confirm that. Spy shots show a big TFT instrument cluster with a “remove side stand” warning, meaning the scooter would get a side stand cut-off system and a “trunk” message, probably indicating the boot is open. Along with this, LED lighting, connectivity features, and turn-by-turn navigation are all expected to run standard on the scooter.

Range

If you look closely at the TFT, you can see the battery reading. It reads 87 percent with 122km of range, hinting the scooter could well be capable of covering over 130km in a single charge. Similar claims were made by the company earlier but it’s good to see these weren’t just claims. Interestingly, this makes the upcoming Ola e-scooter one of the most efficient electric two-wheelers in India.

Nomenclature

A couple of days ago, Ola Electric had filed trademarks for three names: Series S, S1, and S1 Pro that could be for the first set of Ola Electric scooters. Now, in the latest images, the blue scooter is seen with an ‘S1’ badge on the charging port lid above the tail light, confirming our speculation. What remains to be seen now is how the two variants differ in terms of features, range, and performance.

Thanks to the latest photos, we now know almost everything about the scooter apart from its price. While we expect it to cost around Rs 1 lakh, it’ll be interesting to see the price difference between its two variants and how Ola justifies it. Till then, stay tuned.
