Olacabs’ Bhavish Aggarwal recently tweeted asking for opinions on the colour options of the brand’s first electric scooter. This hints at the Ola Electric scooter inching closer to production, right on track to meet its deadlines. Expect it to be launched in a few months.

Ola Electric has been making grand plans to take the Indian electric scooter segment by storm. Its first electric scooter will be made at the company’s ‘FutureFactory’ in Tamil Nadu, touted to be the largest of its kind. Besides, the brand also plans to set up a massive charging network across the country. It aims to establish 5,000 charging points in 100 cities in the first year of its operations.

This initiative should greatly reduce range anxiety among prospective customers. The Ola Electric scooter is likely to be equipped with a non-removable lithium-ion battery pack. Ola claims the battery can be charged to 50 percent in 18 minutes, ensuring a 75km range. This translates to around 150km range in total.

The Ola Electric scooter is also expected to come with all the latest connected features and you can read more about the scooter here. Expect the Ola Electric scooter to be priced at around Rs 1 lakh, making it fairly affordable for a modern electric scooter. It will go up against the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube Electric, and the upcoming Simple Energy Mark 2. You also have the more powerful, feature-packed Ather 450X higher up the price bracket.
