The bike is already out in the foreign markets, and we expect KTM to launch it in India within the next couple of months

[UPDATE: KTM has launched the 2021 RC 125 and RC 200 in India from Rs 1.82 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. For more details about availability, specifications and other details, read this story]

By now, we’re all familiar with the 2022 KTM RC 125 and its siblings. The bike is already launched overseas, and if a leaked ARAI document is anything to go by, it is set to debut in India in the next few months.

The document also tells us that the latest iteration of the KTM RC 125 has a 6mm longer wheelbase than the current model. Of course, this change is barely enough to make a noticeable difference.

The 2022 KTM RC 125 also gets a new bolt-on subframe like the 2022 KTM RC 200 and RC 390. This has helped it to shed about 1.5kg (total weight). The WP Apex USD fork and monoshock remain unaltered.

Another department where KTM claims to have shaved some weight off the bike are the wheels. The new alloys are said to be 3.4kg lighter than before. The braking hardware consists of a 320mm front and 230mm rear disc, which also helps cut 960gms of unsprung mass.

For 2022, the KTM RC 125 has gone under the knife for a spanking new look. It gets an LED headlight flanked by boomerang-like turn indicators. The design could be polarising, but the bike seems a little roomier in pictures.

The document has it that the India-spec bike’s 124.71cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor (mated to a 6-speed gearbox) belts out 14.6PS. The torque should remain the same at 12Nm.

While the one overseas features a TFT screen, we expect the India-spec model to get the more cost-effective LCD console. This would still be better than the existing orange-backlit console.

Expect the 2022 KTM RC 125 to cost Rs 7,000 - 8,000 more than the outgoing model, which retails at Rs 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
