Indian two-wheeler manufacture Hero MotoCorp has decided to rename three of its bikes, Hero CBZ Xtreme, CD Delux and Dawn, which has labels of its ex-partner Honda. Honda uses monikers CB, CD etc. in its typical nomenclature. Hero MotoCorp removes these in the process of removing Honda’s traits from its products. From now on, these bikes will know as Hero Xtreme, Hero HF Dawn and Hero HF Deluxe. As you all know, the two has separated in 2010, when Hero bought all of Honda’s stakes in the iconic JV Hero Honda and renamed it to Hero MotoCorp. After the split, both the brands has used very aggressive strategies; Hero to sustain its crown of world’s largest two-wheeler by volume and Honda to expand its business in India.

Hero MotoCorp has already changed the name of its entire line-up right after the split by dumping Honda’s name from the bikes. Hero Splendor, Hero Passion, Hero Glamour, Hero Hunk, Hero Achiever, Hero Karizma R and the Karizma ZMR all got new names including their maiden scooter (at the time of split) the Pleasure, which is now Hero Pleasure. New products like the Impulse, Maestro, the Ignitor and the Passion XPro have been launched with Hero branding right from their launch.

Hero MotoCorp is still using Honda’s technology as they have got rights for it, however they have announced to launch a all new bike without Honda’s technology by 2014. Both the companies are getting stronger day by day and giving competition to each other. Hero MotoCorp has sold 1 lakh bikes on a single day of ‘DhanTeras’ , which shows that how big the brand has become, on the other hand Honda is also increasing numbers of the sales and they have set the target of 10 million units annually by 2020. Let’s see what will happen in upcoming years, for now these three bikes have dumped Honda’s monikers.
