The BMW R 1200 GS Rambler adventure motorcycle is 50kgs lighter than the stock version

There are very few motorcycles in the world which offer serious adventure touring capabilities and the BMW R 1200 GS is one among them. BMW’s collaboration with Touratech has surely added more bells and whistles to the bike and has alsoimproved its off-road capability. The engine develops a maximum power output of 126.7PS at 7,750 rpm and peak torque of 125Nm at 6,500rpm.

Touratech has incorporated the following parts to the bike: breathable seat, exhaust flap control guard, engine crash bars, LED headlight bulbs, anti-glare cockpit shield, exhaust flap guard, K&N oil filter, pannier system, rear fender tabs cover, suspension steering damper, splash guards, rear suspension unit, skid plate, adjustable folding mirror, lightweight single disc brake, passenger seat luggage rack, aluminium cylinder guards and many more. The incorporation of these parts has surely made the vehicle more responsive, safe and fun to ride.

The addition of Touratech parts hastaken the weight down to 200kgs. Touratech have combined the engine-gearbox unit from the R1200R Roadster with the rear swingarm and shaft drive from the GS, giving the motorcycle a direct high-torque drive system. The motorcycle gets a minimalistic enduro-type bodywork that looks skinny and lightweight, unlike the bulky bodywork on the stock GS, which makes the vehicle almost 50kgs lighter.

Touratech assures us that the boxer is extremely stable even at high speeds, and the weight reduction is achieved using lightweight aluminium tube along with carbon fibre. The motorcycle comes with an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system and a powerful and lightweight lithium-ion battery. The motorcycle comes in two colour schemes: Touratech’s trademark black, grey and yellow and BMW’s original red, white and blue.
