The new Kawasaki Z650 is expected to replace the existing ER-6n from most of the markets, including India, by the end of 2017.

Along with the Z900, Kawasaki has revealed another new middleweight naked bike, the Z650 at the 2016 EICMA show in Milan. Italy. The new, lighter and advanced model will be launched in the market sometime next year and will replace the existing ER-6n streetfighter. The upcoming motorcycle shares the new trellis frame and the upgraded Euro-4 compliant engine with the 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650, which will help the Z650 to fight with rivals like the Yamaha MT-07.

The new steel trellis frame of the Kawasaki Z650 weighs just around 15kg, which results in a kerb weight of just 185kg; around 20kg lesser as compared to that of the ER-6n. It retains the same 650cc, parallel-twin engine from its predecessor. However, the Euro-4 update results in a drop of 4PS in the peak power output. The updated motor delivers 68PS of power and comes mated to a six-speed transmission via an Assist & Slipper clutch that reduces lever effort and provides slipper clutch functionality as well.

The Kawasaki Z650 gets simple yet aggressive styling with the H2R-like, metallic green painted frame as a highlight. The bike also shares the 41mm telescopic forks and the rear monoshock along with the braking system with the new Ninja 650. The system comprises of twin front and single rear disc brakes along with the advanced Bosch 9.1M ABS unit as standard fitment. Apart from the lighter weight, the new design offers a lower saddle height of 790mm, which makes it accessible for most of the riders.

Expected to arrive at the Indian shores by late-2017, the new Kawasaki Z650 will also get some official accessories, such as side panniers (14-litre), top-box (30-litre) and a rear seat cowl.
