About TVS Max
24th November 2015: India’s fourth largest motorcycle manufacturer, TVS Motors, brought its Max 4R in the market about 9 months ago. The Chennai-based manufacturer has offered its last utility motorcycle more than a decade ago with the release of their TVS Max two-stroke series. However, the company has re-entered this category by releasing TVS Max 4R. The motorcycle is meant to fulfill the heavy duty tasks with its durable and rugged design. It is also equipped with the world’s first dual suspension at the rear end. Apart from its use for commuting, the motorcycle has proved its worth in load-carrying capabilities as well. It is available in two variants: Max 4 RLX comes with a regular seat while Max 4R comes with split seats. Priced at an affordable Rs. 43,114 (ex showroom, Delhi), the bike is available in two colours: Black and Red. TVS dealers are offering discounts between Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 to clear BS-III inventory. The discount is available only till March 31, 2017 after which the BS-IV emission norms will be implemented.

TVS Motors has launched the 110cc, four stroke bike, TVS Max 4R and with this bike the manufacturer has revived its line-up of durable commuters. The bike is built on the solid platform of older Max. The motorcycle aims to become a durability perfectionist and is equipped with the world’s first dual suspension
at the rear. Apart from commuting, the motorcycle proves itself as a good vehicle for its load-carrying capabilities .
The bike is equipped with a 109.7cc, four-stroke, air-cooled engine, which is paired to 4-speed gearbox. The motors generates a maximum power of 8.28bhp at 7500rpm with a peak torque of 8.33Nm at 5500rpm. The carbureted engine performs well, in both commuting load carrying.
TVS Max 4R is provided with 130mm drum brakes at both ends. It progress on a 2.75x17” front and 3.00x17” rear tyres fitted with spoke wheels. The suspension duties are carried out by a dual set of shock absorbers at the rear and telescopic forks at the front.
The body dynamics of TVS Max 4R is quite simple and majorly resemble the first generation TVS Star. However, it is provided with some additional features that makes it stand apart from the league. A detachable optional seat in the bike makes it a typical load carrying machine when needed. Apart from this, the bike also features a mobile charging port that finds its place at the headlight-indicator junction point. The instrument console comprises of an analogue speedometer and fuel gauge. Apart from usual gauges, the bike also features a low fuel indicator like the one which comes in Apache RTR 160/180.
Design
TVS Max 4R is an economical product and we can't expect any kind of fancy gizmos, loud styling and long list of equipment and it is very simple in terms of looks and appearance. The overall dynamics are very neat and ordinary. Although the manufacturer has added some attractive graphics to the machine that enhances overall appearance,the bike gets a rounded headlamp, which is bolted on two links to make it easily adjustable at the front. At the rear, a stylish tail lamp unit is quite noticeable and matches with the overall body profile. It also gets a handy mobile charging point just above front turn indicators. The fuel tank has a decent design that gives a good riding position to the rider. The side body panels and the fuel tank gets impressive colours. A sleek and longer seat offers comfort to the rider and pillion, though many people feel that manufacturers could do better than this. The engine and the exhaust are coated in matte black giving a premium feel.
TVS Max 4R is constructed on a single down tube type chassis and body dimensions are measure 2,005mm x 733mm x 1,055mm (LxWxH) end to end. With a wheelbase of 1,240mm, the bike comes with a good handling characteristic and is easy to handle even in the most crowded places. It has been fitted with a 12 liter fuel tank and its total kerb weight sums up to 112kg. The bike has an analogue instrument console comprising of a speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge. The vehicle has been equipped with a maintenance free battery that cuts down on maintenance cost.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
Powering the motorcycle is a 109.7cc, two-stroke, air-cooled engine that comes paired to a four-speed constant mesh gearbox which produces a maximum power of 8.28bhp at 7,500rpm with a net torque of 8.5Nm at 5,500rpm. The durable two-stroke mill has a compression ratio of 53.5mm x 48.8mm And with this, the bike accelerates from 0 to 60kmph in 8.5 seconds and marks a top speed of 90kmph along with a decent fuel efficiency of 55kmpl.
Handling & Ride Quality
TVS Max 4R features 2.75x17" front and 3.00x17" rear tyres that are wrapped over strong spoke wheels. Talking about the brakes, it comes with 130mm drum brakes fitted at the front and the rear ends. As we know that the comfort is a very basic need and this bike provides high level of comfort with the help of telescopic forks at the front and four spring aided shock absorbers at the rear. This is the first time in India that a bike has been assisted with four shock absorbers at the rear that makes it a unique two-wheeler in a particular aspect.
Features
TVS Max 4R gets all the necessary safety features that are required in a 100cc commuter. The bike gets a powerful and adjustable 12V-35/35W headlight that delivers a steady beam of light and illuminates the road well in dark conditions. The bike has been fitted with twin rear view mirrors that alerts the rider regarding traffic approaching from the back. . A mobile charging point has also been added as an optional feature in the package which is really handy on the go. The bike also comes with a detachable seat to carry extra luggage. All these features make it a trustworthy commuting motorcycle.
