Here’s a closer look at the Ather 450 and the Bajaj Chetak Electric rival

The newly launched TVS iQube electric scooter marks the Hosur-based brand’s second innings in the EV segment after the TVS Scooty Teenz Electric. Check out all the intricate details of the electric scooter in images:

The TVS iQube Electric is the spiritual successor of the Qube concept, which TVS showcased back at the 2012 Auto Expo. It was a 100cc petrol-electric hybrid scooter whereas the iQube is all-electric. True to its name, the overall design language is pretty boxy.

The scooter rides on 12-inch alloy wheels on both ends. Interestingly, the alloy wheel design is similar to the one on the TVS Jupiter Grande edition. For better comfort, it uses a telescopic front suspension.

The front end comes with a disc, which is likely to be a 220mm unit, as it looks similar to the one in the TVS Jupiter.

The TVS iQube Electric comes with an all-LED lighting system. It remains to be seen how good the illumination is, considering the small size of the headlamp.

The scooter comes with a TFT screen with smartphone connectivity. Using this combo, one can access navigation assist, geo-fencing, range indication, charge status, ride statistics, and overspeed alert.

The switchgear quality feels pretty premium. It gets a hazard lamp function, a reverse mode, and two riding modes: Eco and Sport. The top speed in Eco mode is restricted to 40kmph whereas in Sport mode, the scooter is capable of reaching a claimed top speed of 78kmph.

The left switchgear is pretty conventional. It houses the buttons for turn indicators, high/low beam, and the horn.

It gets a 2.25kWh lithium-ion battery pack split into three units. One of them is located under the floorboard for a lower centre of gravity and the other two are at the rear. It offers a claimed range of 76km per charge.

Thanks to the battery’s strategic location, the underseat storage is pretty generous. Boot light is also offered as standard.

The scooter is powered by a 4.4kW hub motor capable of sprinting from 0-40kmph in 4.2 seconds.

The rear end gets twin preload-adjustable shock absorbers and a drum brake.

A home charging station along with its installation is offered for free with the purchase of the scooter. It uses a 5A socket and takes about 5 hours to charge completely. There’s no fast-charging capability.
