The iQube is TVS’ answer to the Ather 450 and Bajaj Chetak

TVS’ latest electric scooter, iQube, takes on the likes of the Ather 450 and the Bajaj Chetak. But does it pack enough kit and features to take on the current crop of EV’s? Here are five important points that shed light on those aspects.

All New Scooter?

Though the design of the scooter looks new, it appears to be based on the Jupiter Grande from certain angles. The front fender and alloy wheels should give you the hint. Also, the iQube is only available in a single white paint option. On a slightly different note, the iQube draws its design cues from the Qube concept that was originally showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo in India. While the Qube was a 100cc petrol-electric hybrid scooter, the iQube is a proper e-scooter.

Feature Packed:

On the feature front, the iQube comes equipped with a TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity. You also get navigation assistance, geo-fencing, range indication, charge status, ride statistics, and overspeed alert, all of which can be viewed via TVS' dedicated SmartXonnect app. If that's not enough, the e-scooter also features an all-LED lighting system, a USB charging socket and a boot light as standard.

Powered By...

Powering the TVS iQube Electric scooter is a 4.4kW electric hub motor which makes 140Nm of torque at the wheel. It's also quick to bolt from 0-40kmph and does so in 4.2 seconds. The scooter has a claimed top speed of 75kmph and a range of 78km on a single charge. Aside from this, the scooter comes with regenerative braking, park assist, two riding modes: Eco and Sport, with the top speed limited to 40kmph in Eco mode.

Rides on:

The iQube gets a telescopic front fork and twin shocks at the rear, while anchoring the scooter is a front disc and a rear drum brake. Its 12-inch wheels have been borrowed from the Jupiter Grande. The iQube tips the scale at 118kg (kerb).

When And How Can You Get One?

The TVS iQube Electric scooter is priced at Rs 1,15,000 (on-road Bengaluru). Bookings have already commenced via the company's official website and select TVS dealerships for a token amount of Rs 5,000. Deliveries will begin on January 27 in Bengaluru.  Currently, only ten dealerships across Bengaluru have the scooter on sale. The iQube will be introduced in more cities in a phased manner.
