The Gixxer gets an extensive revamp for 2019

At Rs 1,00,212 (ex-Delhi), the new Gixxer costs Rs 11,271 more than the 2018 Gixxer SP. For 2019 the Gixxer gets new bodywork, an LED headlamp and the SF’s instrument console. Will be available only with a fuel-injected motor borrowed from the 2019 Gixxer SF.

After launching the all-new 2019 Gixxer SF two months before, Suzuki has now launched its naked iteration, the 2019 Gixxer, in India. The new bike has been priced at Rs 1,00,212 (ex-showroom Delhi), which makes it Rs 11,271 more expensive than the 2018 Gixxer SP. It can be booked for between Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 and will reach dealerships across the country in 15-20 days, though some dealerships already have the motorcycle on display. The older Gixxer SP version will be sold alongside the new Gixxer for now.

The 2019 Suzuki Gixxer gets all-new bodywork in the form of a more muscular fuel tank and large tank extensions that cover the engine well. The tail section and grab rails are new as well. It gets a new split seat setup that increases seat height by 15mm, to 795mm. Features include new LED head and tail lamps. While the previous Gixxer came with an orange-backlit instrument console, the new one gets a white-backlit one borrowed from the 2019 Gixxer SF. Fuel tank capacity remains the same at 12 litres. The 2019 Gixxer will be available in 3 colours: Glass Sparkle Black, Metallic Sonic Silver and a two-tone Black/metallic Triton Blue.

For performance, the new Gixxer borrows the BS6-ready fuel-injected 155cc motor from the 2019 Gixxer SF. While the previous Gixxer variants were available with only a carburetted motor, the new one gets a fuel-injected unit. It makes 14.1PS at 8000rpm and 14Nm at 6000rpm, which is less than the carburetted Gixxer SP.

On the suspension front, the new Gixxer gets a 41mm telescopic front fork. The monoshock, disc brakes and tyres have been carried over as is from the previous Gixxer SP. Like the SP, the new model also gets single-channel ABS.

The new Gixxer competes with the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Yamaha FZ-FI, Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 and Honda CB Hornet 160R. We will be riding it soon, so stay tuned for the first ride review.
