Honda To Launch Two New Bikes Every Year

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has targeted to answer Hero, Bajaj and TVS bikes by launching two bikes every year in India. Basically these bikes would be introduced in entry-level segment. HMSI has already announced the launch of cheapest bike in India. This bike would be cheaper than Hero Honda CD Dawn, Bajaj Platina 100cc and TVS Star which are at present among the cheapest bikes in India.

 

At present, HMSI is facing with loss in the sales of two-wheeler segment but now it wants to be number one in the Indian market with launching of new bikes. Indian scooter market is dominated by the company and it is selling over 700,000 units of the Honda Activa per year. Meanwhile it's commuter bikes Honda Shine is also getting buzz response and 300,000 units are being sold by the company.

 

To target Indian youths, the company launched 110cc Honda Twister which is getting overwhelming response; its major competitors are Hero Honda Splendor, Hero Honda Passion Pro and Bajaj Discover which are another most popular commuter bikes in India. The company is planning to bring 100 cc bikes in India that is understood as the entry-level bike sales in India is ruling the sales chart from a long time.

 

In view to increase to production capacity, Honda is going to set up second facility at Tapukara in Alwar district, Rajasthan by mid of this year. Honda has almost 400 dealers across India which are based on triple 'S' and now it is mulling over to add 200 more dealers. HMSI also exports its bike to India's neighbouring countries such as China, Latin America, etc. In year 2010, it exported 75,000 bikes and this is expected to rise to 100,000 bikes in current year, 150,000 next year and 200,000 the year after.
