BREAKING: Honda CB300R BS6 Unveiled At India Bike Week 2021

The Japanese naked now features a slipper clutch

Honda has pulled the wraps off the CB300R BS6 at the India Bike Week 2021. Yes, the Japanese bikemaker is yet to announce the pricing of the naked bike, but we can expect it to hit the shores by Jan 22,2022. This is the bike's first public appearance in the Euro5/BS6 guise and it features a bunch of changes. The bike will be locally manufactured, and could be priced around RS 2.50 lakh.

The Honda CB300R BS6 continues to use the 286cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine and now produces 31.1PS at 9000rpm and 27.5Nm at 7500rpm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox but now gains a slipper clutch. For reference, the previous bike made 30.4PS at 8000rpm and 27.4Nm at 6500rpm.

Honda hasn’t tinkered much with the design of the CB300R. So you get the same Honda CB1000R-derived neo-retro looks. Right from its circular LED headlight to the sculpted fuel tank and the stubby tail section is exactly the same as the previous model. However, the tank extensions are now finished in a darker shade, and the USD forks are now finished in golden colour.

The Honda CB300R continues to use the same trellis frame suspended onto 41mm Showa USD fork and a link-type monoshock at the rear. Even the 296mm/220mm disc brake setup has been carried over from the older model.

The Honda CB300R went on sale briefly between 2019 and 2020, before the bikemaker had to pull the plug on the bike owing to the emission norms. Honda had brought the bike to our shores via the CKD route, which resulted in a high asking price of Rs 2.40 lakh (ex-showroom). With the bike now being manufactured in India, will it be cheaper than the BMW G 310 R, priced at Rs 2.60 lakh and the KTM 390 Duke priced at Rs 2.87 lakh (both ex-showroom Delhi)?
