Black Widow No Longer Rides A Livewire But Rather A Spitfire

To be precise, a CCM Spitfire Blackout hardcore scrambler

CCM is a small firm based out of the UK that makes limited series bikes. The Spitfire series is its neo retro line of motorcycles that pays homage to the legendary namesake fighter used by the Brits in World War 2. CCM has also been featured previously in Angelina Jolie starrer Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in 2001.

In the MCU, Harley-Davidson motorcycles are often featured being ridden by several Avengers. Cap (come on, you gotta know Cap) rode a Softail Slim at the end of the first Avengers movie and the Street 750 in Avengers: Age of Ultron. His childhood friend, Bucky Barnes (or the Winter Soldier), tried escaping from Black Panther on a Street Rod. But the highlight of Harley’s association with Marvel has to be the awesome scene where Black Widow jumps from a quinjet to chase down Ultron on a pre-production Livewire. In the upcoming Black Widow movie, the befallen Avenger’s origin story, Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) is no longer riding a Harley but rather a British bike called the CCM Spitfire Blackout.

Widow is a character who has Soviet Union origins and was trained to be a spy to aid Mother Russia in the Cold War. But she got on the bad side of SHIELD, a super-secret American intelligence agency. The upcoming movie focuses on her early days before she became an alien ass-kicking Soul Stone-sacrificing Avenger. (Sorry spoiler alert but it has been over a year since Endgame released, you should have seen it by now). Since she spends her early days in Europe, choosing a niche British brand over the American icon seems to be in line with the character’s allegiance.

Now on to the Spitfire Blackout, it is based on the company’s previous Scrambler model. The minimalist styling drives in the rugged hardcore vibe. The combination of black and grey with red accents suits the Blackout name well. The microsuede leather quilted bench seat gets a monotone Union Jack emblem at the back.

Powering the bike is a 600cc parallel-twin mill that the company uses on all of its Spitfire neo retro models. The engine puts out 55.76PS and 58Nm, which is decent poke for a bike of its size. While the bike in the movie as well as the original Scrambler model had larger sprocketing, the Blackout features a few less teeth on the large sprocket so as to make it a more versatile motorcycle.

Marzocchi adjustable suspension is found at both ends. A road-biased 19-/17-inch spoke rim setup is used with proper knobby tyres completing the look.

The price for this limited edition beauty? £8995 on the road, in the UK. That’s a decent Rs 8.75 lakh (without Indian customs and duties). Despite it retailing for as much as a Triumph Street Scrambler, if you are a Marvel buff, then owning this piece of memorabilia should be on your radar.
