Bajaj Chetak Electric Yatra Enters Final Stages

The 3,000km-long expedition will conclude in Pune on November 14

The Chetak Electric Yatra was flagged off from Delhi on October 18. It spanned across cities like Agra, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Goa. The e-scooter has a claimed range of 95km in real-world conditions. It is expected to hit dealerships by the end of November.

The Chetak Electric Yatra, which was flagged off from New Delhi on October 18, is set to conclude at Bajaj’s manufacturing plant in Chakan near Pune on November 14. The 3,000km-long journey, designed to put the all-electric Chetak through its paces, has already covered cities like Agra, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Goa.

Aside from testing the reliability and durability of the new Chetak, the ride will also measure the e-scooter’s range, which is claimed to be 95km in Eco mode.

The new Chetak is a modern reinterpretation of the iconic scooter that was sold in the country between 1972 and 2006. Apart from a modern all-electric powertrain, the new Chetak gets a complete overhaul in terms of design. Keeping up with today's trends, the scooter features LED lights, a start-stop button, keyless ignition, a USB port and a feature-rich digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity.

Dealer sources suggest that the scooter is set to hit dealerships in Pune by the end of November 2019. This will be followed by showrooms in Bengaluru. Bajaj is expected to commence bookings before the end of the month. The homegrown two-wheeler manufacturer intends to peg the Chetak as a premium scooter and sell it via KTM dealerships. It’s expected to be priced around Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom), which will help it undercut its primary rival, the Ather 450.
