The commuter segment has once again established its reign as seen in the February sales report

The commuter segment has once again established its reign as seen in the February sales report

Thanks to the ongoing pandemic and the social distancing norms, office-goers have had to switch from public transportation to the next best thing: two-wheelers. This has bumped up the sales of several commuter motorcycles and here are the top five highest selling motorcycles in India for February 2021:

    Hero Splendor: 2,47,422 units

    100 Million Edition Red

Hero MotoCorp recently reached the 100 million sales milestone, and it’s a given the Splendor contributed a huge chunk to this figure. At 2,47,422 units, the number of Splendors sold in February 2021, has gone up by almost 32,000 as compared to February 2020. This feat has been achieved thanks to the Splendor’s no-nonsense nature, affordable price tag, and impressive fuel efficiency figures. However, Hero recently hiked the prices of the Splendor, right after launching its 100 Million Edition.

    Hero HF Deluxe: 1,26,309 units

The bridesmaid to the Splendor in terms of sales is, well, another Hero, the HF Deluxe. However, as the sales of the Splendor has increased, this has had a domino effect on the HF’s sales. It saw a drop of 50,000 units, but surprisingly, the HF Deluxe still managed to outsell all other motorcycles. In an attempt to boost sales, Hero has introduced some interesting offers on the HF Deluxe. Check them out in our story.

    Honda CB Shine: 1,15,970 units

    Honda Shine Right Side View

The Honda CB Shine sees a massive 65,000 unit surge in its sales as compared to last year. The CB Shine was Honda’s take at the commuter motorcycle segment and it’s safe to say it’s been ‘shining’ since its arrival. It even breached past the 90 lakh mark in December 2020 and with such a steep rise in sales, the 1 crore milestone isn’t too far away either!

    Bajaj Pulsar: 81,454 units

Finally, we have the Pulsars! Bajaj’s Pulsar lineup also sees a small but significant increase in sales, by 6,000 units. This number is surely impressive but bearing in mind that it is a sum of the Pulsar 125, 150, 180, 180F, 220F, NS160, RS200, and the NS200’s sales, it seems slightly less significant. That said, Bajaj is working on a revamped Pulsar lineup which should help boost sales. First in the new lineup will be the Pulsar 250, you can check out its full deets in our story.

    Bajaj Platina: 46,264 units

Last year, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 outsold the Bajaj Platina but the tables have turned this time around. The Platina not only outsold the Classic 350, but with a 16,000-unit rise, it also became the fifth highest selling bike in the market. This is thanks to the Platina seeing a price cut of Rs 8,000 with the introduction of its kick-start variant while also becoming the most affordable bike with an electric starter.

      Good bike for youngsters
Good handling and medium breaking, medium performance for short time city and highway riding, good sharp stylish looking naked bike, good road presence, low service charge with medium mileage 30 to 40 kmpl. Long ride comfort is not good after 100km. Wrist pain and shoulder pain, good handling bike. It's give you confidence to flicker very easily. Front break is good stopping power but too much abs kicking problem, rear brake is not good, no stopping power. Top speed after 2nd service 124 highest, mileage not that good 40 km after simple riding. If you ride aggressively, mileage can drop upto 30-25 kmpl. Can recommend this bike to the youngsters who go to college and those who want to explore many places on bike. Short time riding and some time aggressive riding and those who want naked sports bike in low cc and low service charge bike, this is good for them.

      City ride with Hf deluxe
I chose the HF Deluxe because it is known for reliability, low maintenance cost, and excellent fuel efficiency, which suits daily commuting needs. Being a product from Hero MotoCorp, it also gives confidence in terms of service network and resale value. The ride so far has been quite smooth and comfortable for city use. The seat is well cushioned and the suspension handles rough roads decently. Mileage is a strong point easily giving around 65 to 70 km per litre which makes it very economical. The bike is lightweight so handling is easy especially in traffic, However speed and power are limited it is not built for aggressive riding On highways it performs okay at moderate speeds 50 to 70 km per hour but feels slightly underpowered if you try to push beyond that. Yes I would definitely recommend this bike to anyone looking for a budget friendly low maintenance daily commuter especially for city rides rather than long highway touring and for office use daily updow
