  • The red colour variant of the Yamaha R15 V3.0 is likely to be launched in a few days.
  • Could command the same price as that of the Racing Blue.
  • Mechanicals are unchanged.

UPDATE: Yamaha has launched the red colour variant of the Yamaha R15 V3, called Metallic Red. It is priced at Rs 1,52,100, making it Rs 400 dearer than the Racing Blue version. The other two colour variants: Thunder Grey and Dark Knight continue to be offered at Rs 1,50,600 and Rs 1,52,700 respectively. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi. Apart from the addition of new colour, there are no other changes made to the motorcycle.

Yamaha is all set to spruce up the R15 V3.0 with a brand new red colour. The bike has started reaching select dealerships, and we’ve got our hands on some exclusive images. Likely to be launched in a few days, this colour variant could cost the same as the Racing Blue colour variant, which retails at Rs 1,51,700.

The red colour variant features a black racing stripe on the fairing, similar to the grey one in the Racing Blue colour model. It also gets black alloy wheels with matching red rim stickers. With the upcoming colour option, there are now four shades to choose from. The base Thunder Grey colour costs Rs 1,50,600, whereas the top-end Dark Knight colour will set you back by Rs 1,52,700. All prices ex-showroom Delhi.

It’s hard to go wrong with red on a faired motorcycle. Moreover, this should help spice things up for the bike, considering the blue, black, and grey-coloured variants are now getting a little too long in the tooth. We wish Yamaha introduces more colour schemes in the future, like it did with the previous versions of the R15.

Other than the cosmetic change, the rest of the mechanicals are unchanged. To jog your memory, the 155cc Variable Valve Actuation-equipped motor churns out 18.6PS at 10,000rpm and 14.1Nm at 8,500rpm, linked to a 6-speed transmission with assist-and-slipper clutch. Other notable features include an all-LED headlamp and tail lamp, full-LCD instrument cluster, radial tyre at the rear (for better handling), and dual-channel ABS.

The only alternative to the Yamaha R15 V3.0 is the KTM RC 125. The baby RC is pretty expensive at Rs 1,62,566 (ex-showroom Delhi) and is available in only two colour options -- Electronic Orange and Matte Black.
