Here’s how the Meteor siblings differ in terms of dimensions, features and more

Royal Enfield has put a pleasant end to years of anticipation by unveiling the Super Meteor 650 at EICMA 2022, and boy, is it something to be mesmerised by. It takes inspiration from big American cruisers and its smaller sibling Meteor 350. But wait, apart from the obvious 300cc displacement difference, how different is the new cruiser from its smaller sibling? We analyse here.

Dimensions

Meteor 350

Super Meteor 650

Wheelbase

1,400mm

1,500mm

890mm

Ground Clearance

135mm

Seat Height

740mm

Kerb Weight

241kg

Fuel Capacity

15.7 litres

Now of course, being a bigger cruiser, the Super Meteor 650 would be larger and longer, with significant difference in the wheelbase of both bikes. Coming down to the practicality bit, on Indian roads, with a much shorter ground clearance and a 51kg weight difference, the Super Meteor would be difficult to manage, considering the broken tarmac and the general traffic behaviour.

That said, it features a 25mm shorter seat height than the Meteor 350, which should not just make it accessible to all types of riders, but should also result in better handling of the heft of the bike. The Super Meteor is also 39kg heavier than the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, which is based on the same platform.

While the big cruiser does come with a premium 43mm USD fork, a first for Enfields, it gets a suspension travel of 120mm which is 10mm less than that of Meteor 350’s telescopic fork, and here’s what we felt about the smaller cruiser’s ride experience.

Coming to the next area of difference, the fit and finish. The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is going to be the brand’s most expensive bike as of yet. And going by what we have seen of the bike, it gets excellent fit and finish levels with cast aluminium switchgear, which looks awesome. It also gets anodised engine casing to prevent the decolorization of the same, like what we have seen on its platform siblings.

In terms of features, the Super Meteor 650 gets an LED headlight, however, it borrows the semi-digital console from the 350. However, the bigger bike packs a Tripper navigation pod as standard fitment whereas its smaller sibling gets it as an accessory.

Finally, the pricing. The prices for the Super Meteor 650 hasn’t been revealed yet, but expect it to cost at around Rs 3.35 lakh (ex-showroom). The smaller Meteor bears a price tag of Rs 2,01,253 (ex-showroom Delhi).
