Himalayan-rivalling Yezdi ADV Spotted Up Close, Looks Closer To Production

The upcoming ADV from Classic Legends packs features that would make the Himalayan sweat

Royal Enfield has been working on an affordable alternative to the Himalayan, and now, it seems Classic Legends is hard at work too, testing its rival to the popular ADV.  The Yezdi ADV has been spotted a couple of times before, but the new set of spy shots reveal many interesting details about the bike.

Yes, the new Yezdi ADV bears an uncanny resemblance to the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The circular headlamp, windscreen, ADV-style beak, rugged, bare-bones styling -- everything seems familiar. But then again, just like RE, Yezdi builds classic motorcycles, so a modern-looking ADV from Yezdi would have been an oddball.

Fortunately, the retro vibes are limited to styling. The bike packs a bunch of modern features that’ll make the Himalayan sweat. For starters, the upcoming Yezdi features all-LED illumination and an all-digital instrument console, likely to be a TFT unit. Already seems better than the Himalayan’s old-school console with the oddly placed Tripper navigation pod, right?

The upcoming Yezdi bike seems to have the edge over the Himalayan in terms of performance too. Classic Legends will likely equip the Yezdi with a liquid-cooled 334cc engine from the Perak, which produces 30.64PS and 32.74Nm -- 6PS more than the Himalayan. However, we expect Classic Legends to tune the engine a bit differently to suit the intended purpose of the ADV.

And talking about the intended purpose, Yezdi has opted for a 21/17-inch setup with dual-purpose tyres with wire-spoke rims. The long-travel suspension, ground clearance, and rugged bash plate make it viable for varied terrains. The Yezdi ADV packs decent crash protection as well. Up front, there’s a provision to mount a tank bag and jerry cans, but the brace also doubles up as a protector for the tank, engine, and vertically placed radiator.

The upright seating with the handlebar inclined towards the rider and neutrally set footpegs result in easygoing ergonomics, suited for long hauls. The seat height seems low to keep the bike accessible to riders of all sizes.

The upcoming Yezdi ADV looks closer to production, and we may see Classic Legends unveil the new bike along with the Yezdi Roadking scrambler as early as the first quarter of 2022. We reckon the ADV will be priced around Rs 1.90 lakh, which will make its Rs 20,000 cheaper than the Himalayan.
