The new variant adds better crash protection for the commuter

We have seen Bajaj pull off some exciting motorcycle launches this year. The Platina 100 ES became the most affordable bike with an electric start. This was followed shortly by the Platina 110 ABS, the country’s most affordable ABS-equipped motorcycle. Now, the company has launched another commuter, the CT 110 X, priced at Rs 55,494 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Yesterday, our exclusive story got you the details of the new top-of-the-line variant in the CT lineup. In a nutshell, the CT 110 X is a sturdier sibling of the CT 110. The bike is mainly targeted at customers who ply on bad roads regularly. Hence, Bajaj has equipped the bike with a new headlight, complete with a guard and thicker crash guard.

The bike even comes equipped with dual-purpose tyres and a slightly raised front fender, making it easier to ride through muddy terrain.

Keeping the comfort quotient in mind, the bike now gets a dal-stitched seat. Another interesting addition is the new rear carrier, with a payload capacity of 7kg. The CT 110 X’s 1285mm wheelbase is 50mm longer than the standard model, which should translate to more stability.

Though the changes are a welcome addition, the decision to have two pairs of pillion footrests is questionable. Bajaj has also added two rubber mouldings on the crash guard, which the brand claims to be child foothold.

Mechanically, the Bajaj CT 110 X remains unchanged. It is powered by a 115cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine, producing 8.6PS at 7,000rpm and 9.81Nm at 5,000rpm.

The Bajaj CT 110 X demands a premium of almost Rs 2,000 over the standard CT 110. For the extra cash, you get better crash protection, a usable rear carrier, and tyres that are suited to take on the country’s challenging terrain. The bike goes up against the likes of  TVS Radeon and Hero Splendor.
