17th April, 2017: Kawasaki will be launching the 2017 model of the Z1000 on April 22. There will be two trims on offer - Std and HG. The HG variant will be a touring spec version with a flyscreen and crash bobbins as add-ons. While the 2017 model is now BS-IV compliant, updates include just a gear position indicator. The Z 1000 features no riding aids baring ABS. It seems like Kawasaki intends to keep the Z 1000 as more of a pure motorcycle, devoid of electronics.

Kawasaki Z1000 has remained a tough competitor for other high-end naked sport motorcycles due to its aggressive body styling and indispensable appeal. The manufacturer has given it a Sugomi-inspired facelift and has done some mechanical and visual alterations to make it even more competitive and desirable.
The bike gets power from a 1,043cc liquid-cooled, in-line four cylinder, four-stroke engine churns out a maximum power of 140bhp at 10,000rpm with a peak torque of 111Nm at 7,300rpm. It uses a six-speed constant mesh transmission and employs electronic fuel injection system for brisk and smooth throttle response. Kawasaki Z1000 has been fitted with grippy 120/70ZR17M/C (58W) front and 190/50ZR17M/C (73W) rear tubeless tyres that have a good adhesion to road. The suspension system comprises of advanced Separate Function Fork - Big Piston (SFF-BP) inverted forks at the front and gas-charged monoshock at the rear end. The braking is done via twin 310mm disc brakes with four piston calliper at the front and a 250mm single disc brake with single piston calliper at the rear. Furthermore, the stopping power gets more divine with the incorporation of an ABS unit.
The bike has been given a super sporty font appearance with sharply pointed front cowl and twin LED headlamps integrated cleverly under it. The fuel tank design is iconic and looks even more robust with the adjoining of tank shrouds to it. Coming towards the rear, a sporty split, step-up seat offers optimum comfort level to the rider as well as pillion. The twin chrome plated masculine silencers further enhances the aesthetics value of the beast. Kawasaki Z1000 comes with body dimensions of 2,045mm x 790mm x 1,055mm (LxWxH) and has a wheelbase of 1,435mm. Furthermore, the bike has minimum ground clearance of 125mm and comes with a 17 liter fuel tank. The instrument console of the bike is analogue plus digital comprising of a digital speedometer, tripmeter, fuel gauge and an analogue tachometer.
Design and Features
Kawasaki Z1000 is undoubtedly one of the meanest and most aggressively styled naked streetfighters on the planet. The front profile of the bike is inspired from “Sugomi” design that is witnessed by its sharp and predatory appearance. The twin LED headlamp units are embedded impressively under the front cowl. The fuel tank is designed to perfection offering an upright yet comfortable riding posture to the rider. The remaining work is done by the majestic tank shrouds mounted on either side of the fuel tank. The bike has a sporty step-up seat that comes well-padded to provide optimum comfort to the rider and pillion. At the rear, a sporty twin exhaust unit finds its presence that looks stunning along with the robust tail lamp design.
The bike is bolted on an aluminium twin tube frame and measures 2,045mm x 790mm x 1,055mm (LxWxH) end to end. Kawasaki Z1000 comes with an agile and sharp handling as it comes with a shorter wheelbase of 1,435mm. Moreover, a minimum ground clearance of 125mm enables sharp cornering with ease and confidence. The machine has been assisted with a 17 liter fuel tank that gives it decent range after filling it to the full. Kawasaki Z1000 has a total kerb weight of 221kgs and has been crafted with proper mass centralization to ensure superior handling and stability even in the most adverse conditions. Engine and Performance
The beast is powered by a 1,043cc, liquid-cooled, in-line four cylinder, four-stroke motor that comes mated to a six-speed transmission system and uses wet multiplate clutch assembly. The mighty powerplant cranks out a whopping power of 140bhp at 10,000rpm with a maximum torque of 111Nm at 7,300rpm. It has a compression ratio of 11.8:1 and has a bore x stroke ratio of 77mm x 56mm. Furthermore, it has been assisted with an advanced electronic fuel injection system equipped with four Keihin 38mm throttle bodies. With this, the bike accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.4 seconds and hits a top speed of 258kmph.
Braking and Handling
Kawasaki Z1000 progresses with grace on 120/70ZR17M/C (58W) front and 190/50ZR17M/C (73W) rear tubeless tyres that are mounted over stylish black alloy wheels with green pinstripes. The suspension department is handled by 41mm inverted forks with preload adjustability at the front and Horizontal Back-link, gas-charged, with stepless rebound damping at the rear end. The fierce stopping potential is delivered by dual 310mm petal disc brakes with four piston calliper upfront and a single 250mm disc brake with a single piston calliper at the rear. The stopping power gets more precise and aggressive with the incorporation of a high-performance ABS unit to the package.

Kawasaki Z1000 has a powerful and aggressive headlight at the front that brightens up the road well in dark and low light conditions. The bike also gets an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) that offers superior control and stability in case of harsh braking conditions.
