Key Specs of W175
Kawasaki W175 Highlights
The Kawasaki W175 has been spotted testing in India for the first time. It is expected to be launched in India in mid-2021 for a possible price of around Rs 1.75 lakh (ex-showroom).
It is evident from the test mule that the India-spec model will feature a fuel-injection system. The international-spec carburetted 177cc air-cooled motor produces 13PS at 7,500rpm and 13.2Nm at 6,000rpm. The fuel-injection system should improve the throttle response, and this coupled with the engine’s counterbalancer and 5-speed transmission should ensure a good riding experience.
The test mule also sports a single-channel ABS linked to the 220mm disc up front. It gets a drum brake at the rear. The motorcycle is suspended on a telescopic front fork and a pair of preload-adjustable rear shock absorbers. To keep costs in check, the test mule rolls on Ceat tyres on both ends.
The India-spec Kawasaki W175 is likely to weigh a few kilos more than the 126kg Indonesian model, thanks to the inclusion of ABS and fuel injection. Even then, it will be the lightest bike in the retro segment. This, along with the 780mm seat height, should make it easy to handle, especially for shorter riders. Other notable rivals of the Kawasaki W175 in its segment are the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Jawa.
