Overview
The Kawasaki KLX230 is the only road-legal dual-sport motorcycle in India from the Japanese brand. The bike is known for its peppy performance, lightweight character and off-road capabilities. The Kawasaki KLX230 is capable enough to be counted as part of our list of the top 5 adventure bike launches of 2025.

Kawasaki KLX230 Variants
The bike is sold in two variants: KLX230 and KLX230 S, with the S variant being a new addition. The S variant is meant to be short-rider friendly, with a lower seat as well as lower suspension travel.
Kawasaki KLX230 Design
The KLX230 gets a very unique design with the raised front fender, narrow fuel tank and a long single-piece seat. The bike gets a sleek look with minimal fairing, exposed aluminium subframe and an upswept exhaust. The headlight gives the bike a distinct enduro look. While the bike comes in two colour schemes, we like the ‘Lime Green’ one more, as it retains Kawasaki’s iconic colour palette.
Kawasaki KLX230 Engine
The Kawasaki KLX230 is powered by a 233cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 19PS at 8,000rpm and 19Nm at 6,400rpm. It is paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
Kawasaki KLX230 Chassis, Brakes, Wheels, Suspension
The underpinnings of the Kawasaki KLX230 differs between its two versions. On the standard model, you get a telescopic fork offering 220mm of wheel travel, paired with a preload-adjustable rear monoshock providing 233mm of wheel travel. The seat height is 880mm. It may sound tall but the narrow profile makes it a little more manageable. As for the ground clearance, it is 255mm in the standard variant
On the other hand, the KLX230 S gets a lower 830mm seat, 50mm lower than the one on the standard variant. It also gets lower-travel suspension: 160mm up front (60mm lower) and 163mm wheel travel at the rear (60mm lesser). Consequently, it also gets a 35mm lower ground clearance at 220mm.
Both versions share several key features, including a braking system with a 290mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc. The bikes get single-channel switchable ABS. They also roll on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels with tubed tyres. Both bikes have a 7.5-litre fuel tank and a total weight of 139kg.
Kawasaki KLX230 Features
The Kawasaki KLX230 is equipped with an LCD instrument console that offers smartphone connectivity through Bluetooth and has basic features like call and SMS alerts. The console has a speedometer, an odometer, a fuel gauge, and other tell tale lights. The Kawasaki KLX230 has an engine cut-off switch along with an ABS toggle switch.

June 25, 2026: Kawasaki has updated its 2027 KLX 230 lineup. The KLX 230 S variant comes with a lower seat, along with lower suspension travel. Both the Standard and the S variants cost Rs 2,19,000 (ex-showroom). The standard variant has got a price hike of RS 35,000.
October 13, 2025: Kawasaki is offering a 7-year extended warranty on the KLX230 for a fee of Rs 2,499, over the 3-year standard warranty. The extended warranty covers only the engine and gearbox components.
September 29, 2025: Kawasaki sold 28 units of the KLX230 in India in the month of August 2025. The sales figure has gone down drastically compared to the 102 units sold in the month prior.
September 24, 2025: The Kawasaki KLX230 gets a price cut of around Rs 15,000 under GST 2.0. It is now priced from Rs 1,84,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
August 12, 2025: Kawasaki has launched the 2026 KLX230 in India at price of Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which makes it Rs 1.30 lakh cheaper than its previous price of Rs 3.30 lakh. The 2026 version makes slightly more power, gets some different underpinnings and new graphics.
