KTM 390 Enduro R: But Indian riders need more!
The KTM 390 Enduro R is an off-road bike based on the same engine and same frame of 2025 KTM 390 Adventure. It looks very appealing and properly capable of off-roading. That said, the India-spec model is a slightly toned down version of the international-spec model of the Enduro R in terms of suspension travel (reduced), seat height (reduced) and weight (increased). So while it might have left experienced and more hardcore offroaders asking for more, it is really capable off the road nonetheless.

Design
-
The design of Enduro R is eye-catching and it looks like a proper dirt bike, something which has not been seen often on Indian roads.

-
The bike has upright, straight handlebar with taller 860mm seat height that gives the rider an aggressive riding stance for off-road riding.

-
It comes with a compact LED headlamp without any windshield and the compact LED brake light is similar to the one from the 2025 390 Adventure.

-
The Enduro R gets a compact 9 liters fuel tank, minimal plastic panels and compact TFT display for weight reduction

-
But the Indian variant comes with sari guard, crash guard and grab handles to comply with government norms that increases its kerb weight to 177 kg.

-
The front fork covers are black which look a bit bland compared to the international-spec Enduro R

-
It gets narrow seat and slim side panels which gives it a sleeker profile, that is ideal for an enduro bike

-
It gets 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tube-type spoke wheels to make it easy to handle off-road trails

Features
-
The 2025 KTM Enduro R comes with a dedicated switchable ABS button that disengages it quickly.

-
It gets dual-channel ABS for improved safety on the road, and for off-road riding, ABS can be switched off at both wheels, or even just the rear wheel.

-
It gets smart phone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and music control

-
The Enduro R gets two ride modes: Street and Offroad. Off-road mode allows the engine to give you the most direct response to your throttle inputs, while Street mode makes it slightly less responsive for smoother riding on roads.

-
The bike comes with a USB-C charger, adjustable levers, adjustable footpegs and adjustable handlebar clamps.

-
It has a slim yet informative 4.2-inch colour TFT display which is clear even under bright sunlight.

Riding Posture & Comfort
-
The India-spec of Enduro R has been slightly toned down compared to the international-spec model.

-
It gets 200mm of suspension travel in front and 205mm at the back while international-spec gets 230mm travel at both ends.

-
The seat height also got reduced from 890mm on the international-spec model to 860mm on the Indian-spec model.

-
With this lowered seat height, riders who are 5’10” or taller can easily flatfoot the bike, while those who are about 5'7” can easily handle it on tip-toes.

-
The riding stance while sitting or standing is aggressive and comfortable for shorter journeys considering it is an enduro bike, not a tourer.

-
The narrow seat and slim body panels allows the rider to grip the tank and helps in tackling off-road terrain.

Engine, Mileage & Performance
|
Engine |
Power |
Torque |
|
398.63cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled |
46PS @ 8500 |
39Nm @ 6500 |
- The 2025 Enduro R comes with the same 398.63cc engine from the 2025 390 Adventure.

-
This engine is one of the most powerful in its segment, and offers plenty of performance, whether you’re riding on the road, or off it.

-
It comes with a larger 48-tooth rear sprocket to increase low rpm performance, so when you’re crawling on tricky off-road trails, the Enduro R never feels out of place.

-
This larger rear sprocket means the top speed will be a bit lower than that of the 390 Adventure, but that’s perfectly ok as the Enduro is primarily meant to be ridden off-road

-
The 390 Enduro also gets a quickshifter which works really well whether shifting up or down without the clutch.

-
The small 9-litre fuel tank means that the Enduro R will not be a good option for riding long distances on the road. Its primary use will be for riding from your home to an off-road trail and back.

Handling & Ride Quality
-
The bike weighs 177kg which is 11kg heavier than the international-spec model due to the added sari guard, crash guard and grab rails.

-
Although the kerb weight seems a bit high, once you’re on the move, the bike feels quite light and nimble, and you can easily throw it around on any off-road trail

-
I weigh around 65kg and for light weight riders, the adjustable suspension’s stock settings are sufficient. But heavier will need to adjust it according to their weight so that the suspension doesn’t bottom out after landing jumps on trails.

-
More advanced off-road riders who want to ride on more difficult trails with big rocks and jumps would have preferred the longer travel suspension from the international-spec Enduro R

-
Although the 2025 Enduro gets a smaller front brake compared to the 390 Adventure, braking is pretty spot-on and works beautifully when riding in the dirt.

Should You Buy The KTM Enduro R?
-
The 2025 KTM 390 Enduro R is a really exciting motorcycle that’s capable of conquering trails, and at the same time, it is loaded with features and tech. It also stood out as one of the 5 most notable adventure bike launches in India.

-
Although it is a very capable off-road bike, I would not consider it to be beginner-friendly because the engine is very aggressive.

-
With such a powerful engine, it is the perfect machine for experienced off-road riders, although the hardcore off-road riders would find the lower travel suspension a bit disappointing.

-
That said, Bajaj has confirmed that a version of the Enduro with international spec longer suspension travel will be available in India soon, so those hardcore off-road riders should really wait for that one.

- Enduro R reviewsurprisingly capable on the road, especially on twisty tarmac often surprising sportbike riders. It can maintain highway speeds well but its dirt-bike roots mean long highway rides can be less comfortable due to wind firm seats and some engine vibrations More approachable, manageable, and easier to handle for less-experienced off-road riders. Excellent chassis/suspension.but can feel heavy and bottom out on the shock in very rough.aggressive terrain compared to dirt bike I want to say anything best mileage best performance what you need apart from that best bike i ever ride the aggressive bike especially on twisty tarmac often surprising sportbike ridervibrations engienRead More2

- Dirt bike designThe design is like dirt bikes, with that affordability, with decent speed, but for Indian roads, it's amazing, those who want dirt bike, or off road bike, I suggest you definitely go for it. With 390 enduro, you can go off road, and into rugged terrains. Or I will suggest that you buy KTM 390 Adventure 2025, for off road, commuting, speed, and travelling. Must buy bikeRead More
