After rejoicing with the outstanding sales of the new Avenger range, Bajaj Auto is now reportedly working on a larger capacity version of the same. The bike is expected to come as the Avenger 400 and will take on the likes of bigger cruisers such as the Royal Enfield and the UM Motorcycles. The Avenger range currently comes with three models, namely the Avenger 150 Street, the 220 Street and the 220 Cruise.

As per speculations, the bigger Avenger might be equipped with a 375cc, single-cylinder engine that currently goes in the 390 Duke and the RC390. However, to offer better cruiser abilities, the engine might get some fine tuning that would eventually result in a different power and torque output. As far as styling goes, the new Avenger is expected to share the design philosophy with its younger siblings.

According to reports, Bajaj has stated, "In terms of extending the brand to the more premium end (in the league of higher-engine displacement), the company could well position a 375cc Avenger (potentially naming it as Avenger 400) in the market to unsettle Royal Enfield’s hold in the mid-size segment. This would depend on the product packaging, the feel, sound, pricing and many other crucial factors.”

Besides this, the company is also planning to bring another higher capacity motorcycle this year. If some rumours are to be believed, the bike could be the CS400, which is also based on a cruiser concept. The bike was showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo and has been waiting to hit production lines since then. If the Bajaj Avenger 400 actually does go in production, Bajaj will be able to gain a commanding position in this segment due to the limited number of rivals. With a Bajaj official confirming that the next product is going to be a 400cc one, it would be interesting to see which bike Bajaj plans to bring first. Stay tuned for more updates!
