The Scrambler 650 features the same instrument console as the Himalayan 450
The Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 and Royal Enfield Classic 650 were spotted testing recently, and judging by the images we now have a decent idea of what to expect from the two upcoming 650cc bikes from Royal Enfield.
Royal Enfield Scrambler 650
Based on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, the Scrambler 650 has a similar design as the roadster. It gets an old-school round headlight, likely an LED unit, and a teardrop shaped tank. The bike also features a similar single-piece seat but this one is a bit wider than the one we’ve seen on the Interceptor. The Scrambler 650 also has a circular tail light, similar to the one on the Hunter 350, and LED indicators borrowed from the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
Royal Enfield has made some other changes on the Scrambler 650 to make it more suited for off-road riding. These include the new exhaust setup which combines the two pipes into one, making this the first 650cc bike from the manufacturer that comes with a single-exhaust setup.
It also gets a longer-travel inverted fork, and twin rear shock absorbers that don’t appear to be gas-charged units. The bike rolls on a blacked-out 19-/17-inch spoke wheel setup wrapped in MRF Nylorex X dual-purpose tyres.
The Scrambler 650’s instrument console – a round 4-inch TFT with Bluetooth connectivity and full-fledged navigation via Google Maps – is the same as the one on the new Himalayan.
Royal Enfield Classic 650
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 comes with the iconic design of its smaller sibling, the Royal Enfield Classic 350. It features a similar headlight nacelle and bulb-type indicators at the rear. It also has a low and wide handlebar and fork sleeves as the Classic 350. The exhaust consists of twin peashooters like the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 but with a chrome finish.
Both motorcycles are powered by Royal Enfield’s 648cc air-/oil-cooled parallel twin engine which produces 47PS at 7250rpm and 52.3Nm at 5650rpm.
We expect the Scrambler 650 to be launched sometime around late 2024 or early 2025 with an expected price of Rs 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the Scrambler 650 will be in the same league as the recently launched scrambler motorcycles like the Triumph Scrambler 400 X and Husqvarna Svartpilen 401. The Scrambler 650 does not have any direct rivals right now, and the only alternative is the Moto Morini Seiemmezzo 6 ½, which comes at a significantly higher price.
The Classic 650 is expected to be launched at an ex-showroom price of Rs 3.2 lakh sometime in late 2024 or early 2025. The Classic 650, too, won’t have any direct rivals, and the closest alternative will be the recently launched Kawasaki Z650RS, priced at Rs 6.99 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
