    Top 5 Affordable Performance Bikes

Diwali’s always been one of the best times of the year to buy a new bike – what better way to take the festive joy to the next level! While the new GST rates have made smaller capacity bikes (350cc and below) cheaper, prices of some of the bikes in the 400cc segment have remained the same. Here’s a look at five bikes that cater to different kinds of riders — from sportbikes to long-distance tourers, and everything in between:

    Yamaha R15 V4

    Rs 1,69,425 to Rs 1,74,019 (ex-showroom)

The Yamaha R15 V4 continues to be the go-to choice for beginner sportbike riders. Its design closely resembles the bigger R1, and its 155cc engine delivers performance that outperforms its size. The handling is sharp and predictable as expected of Yamaha R bikes, making it a great learning platform for cornering techniques. Riders of taller builds might find the aggressive riding position cramped for daily use, and its pricing puts it close to more powerful options. That said, the quality, fit-and-finish of this Yamaha bike is quite excellent.

    Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z

    Rs 1,92,794 (ex-showroom)

The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z brings muscular streetfighter styling, and unmatched performance for its price. This Bajaj bike gets an inverted fork, 4 ride modes, all-LED lighting, and a digital console. However, its slightly firm suspension setup can make daily commutes less comfortable. This Bajaj Pulsar bike stands out for its value-for-money performance and aggressive design. Despite the new GST rates, Bajaj hasn’t increased the price, and has not passed on the impact to the customers.

    Triumph Scrambler 400 X

    Rs 2,67,731 (ex-showroom)

The Triumph Scrambler 400 X combines retro design with off-road readiness. Its  torquey engine and plush suspension make it capable on both city streets and where the road ends as well. Its high-quality finish and road presence give it a premium feel. That said, the braking setup could inspire more confidence, and its basic digi-analog console feels dated in 2025. For those seeking a blend of classic style and rugged practicality, this Triumph bike is a compelling choice. That said, Triumph has absorbed the GST price increase, and kept the ex-showroom price the same.

    KTM 390 Duke

    Rs 2,97,443 (ex-showroom)

The KTM 390 Duke remains a benchmark for pure riding excitement. Its explosive performance, cornering agility, and electronic aids such as ride modes, bidirectional quickshifter make it one of the most tech-loaded bikes in its class. The fully-adjustable suspension adds another layer of versatility. Then there’s a whole bunch of features – almost all that you would expect. On the downside, its styling may not appeal to everyone. Nonetheless, it delivers an unmatched thrill for the money. What makes it even more special is that its price hasn’t gone up after the new GST rates came into effect as KTM absorbed the impact.

    Royal Enfield Himalayan 450

    Rs 3,05,736 to Rs 3,19,682 (ex-showroom)

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is built for long-distance adventure touring. Its 452cc engine cruises comfortably at highway speeds, while the bike’s suspension and ergonomics make rough roads easy to handle. With a 17-litre fuel tank offering over 400km of range, it’s designed for serious touring. However, its heavy weight and minor vibration issues at high speeds may bother some riders. Repairing punctures can also be challenging unless equipped with the optional tubeless spoke wheels. However, the Himalayan’s price has gone up with the new GST rates

One of the best performances sports bike with great mileage in city around 24 and on highway 30 which is good according to a sports bike with this much performance, writing style is also very comfortable, not to aggressive and the bike, very easy to manuver. I think you should go for this bike if you are looking for great performance with efficient mileage and comfort riding style.

Yamaha r15 v4 is a great fully faired sports bike
The reason i chose this bike was quite a story in short, i was a student who was about get in college and i needed a bike to travel a quite moderate distance. When i was searching for a bike which is highly affordable as well as stylish on the looks and has great features too! Then i came across this masterpiece which was totally worth it. The ride is great so far. But there are few factors to look for if a beginner is going to buy this bike, as a fully fair bike the biggest issue would be comfort on long ride eg. Posture issue because of the aggressive stance fully fair bikes usually have. But for the short to moderate distance its great soo far. And handling also good, and mileage is better than expected. One more thing to consider, if someone lives in a crowded city like area they can this as this bike isn't a street fighter or naked body bike for city specific conditions. I would absolutely recommend this bike to even a beginner who want to get a thrilling ride experience of a fully fair bike at price rang as low as this, mileage also great compared to other similar bikes, great handling too, maintenance is also fairly rated i would say, totally worth it!
