Cake Mobility is all set to enter India with three new, very interesting products
Swedish bikemaker Cake Mobility, known for its premium, funky electric offerings, is all set to enter the Indian market. In fact, the brand is initially looking to set up a manufacturing plant, somewhere in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
It revealed three of its products at the ongoing Auto Expo 2023: Makka Flex: Work (B2B electric scooters), Osa Plus: Work (B2B electric scooter) and Kalk: Work (B2C electric dirt bike). The Makka Flex: Work’s 3.3kW output propels it to a 45kmph top speed along with a claimed 100km range, all of it while weighing a paltry 82kg. The Osa Plus: Work (the electric scooter with the top box), on the other hand, makes a solid 10kW, enabling a top speed of around 90kmph.
But what caught all of our attention was hands down the Cake Kalk: Work, a premium-looking electric dirt bike that looks ready to gobble up whatever roads you throw at it. It makes a solid 11kW, boasts a top speed of more than 90kmph and weighs just 83kg. Its suspension, with more than 200mm of travel at both ends, has in fact been developed in partnership with Ohlins. It even has a massive 300mm ground clearance, which comes at the expense of a vertigo-inducing 926mm seat height.

If you thought that was impressive, wait till you hear that all of them get goodies like TFT consoles, variable regenerative braking, ride modes and a lot more!
And yes of course, there’s a price to pay for all this. The Makka Flex: Work costs USD 5,680 (approximately Rs 4.62 lakh), while the Osa Plus: Work and Kalk: Work retail for USD 11,970 (approximately 9.74 lakh) and USD 13,860 (approximately 11.3 lakh) respectively. That said, we spoke to Cake officials and have come to know that the India-spec B2B electric scooter offerings will have a target price from Rs 2.5 lakh, whereas the B2C dirt bike is planned to be priced from Rs 3.5 lakh. Another caveat is that it will take Cake at least around a year to set up the plant and get the entire manufacturing process in place.
All said and done, while the products will be priced on the premium side, they’ll all pack features that none of their competitors do and that would definitely appeal to a certain niche section of the buyers. As for us enthusiasts, we cannot wait to lay our hands on them!
