With the KX250F and the KX100, Kawasaki will become the first major bike manufacturer to officially launch track-only dirt bikes in the country

Kawasaki has confirmed to launch the KX250F and the KX100 motocross bikes in India on December 18th. The company has been selling the KLX 110 small motocross bike in the country for children since December 2015. But this will be the first time when a manufacturer will officially launch the track-spec dirt bikes for adults in the country. Though these motorcycles are not road-legal, the rise in enthusiasts participating in motocross events and also wanting to take trail riding as a leisure sport in India might have prompted Kawasaki to launch the new KX250F and the KX100 here.

The bigger Kawasaki KX250F is a powerful, yet lightweight motorcycle that weight just around 104kg. Propelling the bike is a 249cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder motor that comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Bolted on a high-tensile steel perimeter frame, the bike gets a long-travel Showa suspension setup with fully adjustable 48mm inverted front forks and mono rear shock. Both spoke wheels get disc brakes, endowing the bike with superior braking performance. The 21-inch front wheel gets 80/100 section tyre and the rear 19-inch wheel comes fitted with a skinny 100/90 section rubber specially designed for dirt tracks.

The Kawasaki KX100 is a younger sibling of the KX250F with a sleeker and lighter design and weighs just 77 kilos. A smaller 99cc two-stroke motor mated to a six-speed gearbox power the bike. The KX100 features skinnier shocks and tyres along with smaller disc brakes as compared to its elder sibling. Both bikes will be available in Lime Green colour.

There is no information on the pricing yet, however we know that Kawasaki will import them as a CBU. Kawasaki will be organising a media experience ride of the KX250F and the KX100 on a special dirt track on the launch day itself. So, watch out this space for a ride review of the bike.
