The updated BS6 motorcycles will get a lot more than a cleaner engine

BMW G 310 Twins Launch Date Revealed

BMW has revealed that it will launch the BS6 versions of its entry-level G 310 R and G 310 GS in India on October 8. The Bavarian bikemaker has already commenced bookings for both motorcycles (Check out more details here) as well as announced an affordable EMI scheme for the duo. The BMW twins have been spotted testing both in India and overseas. Along with a greener motor, both motorcycles will also get cosmetic updates. Both are expected to receive a price cut of Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000.

While both motorcycles are expected to carry forward the same bodywork, they could feature new colour schemes. Both get new LED headlamps as well. However, it appears that the bikes could continue to use the same LCD digital instrument console. That would be disappointing as its distant sibling, the TVS Apache RR 310 BS6, received a new colour TFT instrument console as part of its BS6 update.

The BMW twins share their powertrain, frame and suspension (excluding longer travel suspension the G 310 GS gets). Its greener 312cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor is expected to have a slightly different state of tune than the Apache RR 310. For reference, the RR 310 BS6’s motor develops 34PS and 27.3Nm. BMW could equip the new motorcycles with rider modes similar to the ones seen on the new Apache RR 310 BS6.

The BMW G310 GS and G 310 R have not had much success in the past owing to them being priced at quite a premium with fewer features. The new updates and price cuts could change that and turn the tides for the bikemaker.
