From new launches to spy shots and business developments - here are the highlights of last week

There were quite a few interesting developments in our two-wheeler market last week. While a number of motorcycles slated for launch this year were spied testing, a couple of online leaks revealed interesting details of other upcoming bikes. We round up some of the important news from last week into one story:

Upcoming Bikes Spotted:

One of the most anticipated motorcycles of 2019, the KTM 390 Adventure was caught testing in the country yet again. However, this time, it packed some interesting touring accessories. Here’s our analysis of the motorcycle. The Austrian brand’s upcoming flagship naked in India, the 790 Duke was also spotted in the country for the first time.

Honda also has something really exciting for enthusiasts (read CB300R) coming in a few months. The Honda CB300R was spotted in the country for the first time, during what looked like a commercial shoot. We analysed the spy shots, and realised that there’s one aspect of the motorcycle that doesn’t quite match with the one sold abroad.

A leaked image of the 2019 Dominar 400 rolling off the assembly line also surfaced online last week. The new model comes in new colours for the Indian market, and also packs sophisticated underpinnings. Here’s everything you need to know about this upcoming power cruiser.

Launch, Sales & Service Related News:

Suzuki introduced the 2019 iteration of the V-Strom 650XT in the Indian market in the week gone by. However, there's nothing to talk about other than the new colour scheme and graphics.

Bookings for Yamaha’s upcoming performance naked, the MT-15 commenced unofficially last week. In fact, the India-bound bike’s specs also surfaced on the web. As per the leaked document, it features the same engine as the R15 v3.0, and makes the same amount of power too!

The Bajaj Pulsar 220F has consistently racked up impressive sales numbers for the Indian brand. In a bid to replicate its success with the smaller, Pulsar 180, the bikemaker will be introducing the Pulsar 180F in February. So how different is this motorcycle from the older one? Find out the details, including the price here.

Royal Enfield’s Interceptor 650 is the country’s most affordable twin-cylinder middleweight motorcycle. And now, it turns out to be affordable enough to live with as well. Also, the Indian cult brand became the fifth largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the country, surpassing Yamaha in terms of sales.

Last week also saw Harley-Davidson issuing a recall for the Street range over faulty brake calipers. As many as 44,000 bikes are said to have been affected worldwide. If you happen to own one too, find out how to go about it here.

With pollution levels on the rise, the Indian Government has been constantly taking initiatives for alternative, eco-friendly transportation options. And now, the Government is considering to levy Green Tax on petrol-powered bikes and scooters with the intention of using the tax collected to improve the electric vehicle infrastructure in the country.
