Yamaha MT 15 India vs Indonesia-spec Accessories Compared
The one sold in Indonesia comes with a few crucial add-ons that the India-spec bike misses out. Find out the details

The Yamaha MT-15 is sold both in Indonesia and India. In fact, it has been on sale in Indonesia much before it arrived on our shores. Sure, the first-gen India-spec MT-15 wasn’t as sporty as the one sold abroad, but the latest gen Yamaha MT-15 V2 is very close except for a few differences. Interestingly, Yamaha offers official accessories for the bike in both the countries, but the variety is quite different. Let’s explore:
Accessories: Practicality Vs. Sportiness
In India, Yamaha's official accessory list for the MT-15 is built around utility. While things are a bit different on the Indonesian-spec bike:
| Accessories | India Prices | Accessories | Indonesia Prices |
|---|---|---|---|
| Drive chain sprocket kit (Brass) | Rs 2,400 | Short License Plate Holder | Rs 8,143 (Rp 1,500,000) |
| Mobile Holder - Claw Grip | Rs 2,100 | LEVER SET BRAKE+CLUTCH | Rs 3,564 (Rp 656,500) |
| Mobile Holder - Water Resistant | Rs 1,900 | Cover Radiator | Rs 3,431(Rp 632,000) |
| Lever Guard | Rs 900 | Racing Stand | Rs 2,442 (Rp 450,000) |
| Mobile Charger | Rs 840 | Holder Handle Upper L/R | Rs 1,919 (Rp 353,500) |
| Seat Cover | Rs 590 | Visor Smoke | Rs 1,644 (Rp 303,000) |
| Skid Plate | Rs 550 | END GRIP SET | Rs 1,427 (Rp 263,000) |
| Chain Cleaner Brush | Rs 217 | Cap Reservoir | Rs 1,123 (Rp 207,000) |
| Tank Pad | Rs 184 | BUSH STAND | Rs 1,015 (Rp 187,000) |
| Key Ring | Rs 99 | Fuel Cap | Rs 624 (Rp 115,000) |
| Sticker MT | Rs 95 |
The India-spec bike has a healthy list of accessories for practicality, but as you can see, it misses out on a couple of crucial ones. We should’ve gotten the radiator guard as that would go a long way in keeping the radiator protected from flying debris. Also, the MT-15 has a very compact and stubby tail, so a short number plate holder that’s sold in Indonesia will really enhance the bike’s looks without compromising on utility. These two add-ons are something that the Indian riders really deserve.

Also, while both India-spec and Indonesian-spec bikes get an engine guard, the one sold abroad is much more premium and compact looking. It is also sold separately for each side so that you can simply replace only the side that’s damaged. Also, since motorcycle racing culture is much richer in Indonesia, the brand offers accessories like a paddock stand with compatible bushes.

If we were to choose the ones that should come to India, our choice would definitely be the radiator guard, smoked visor, and a short license plate holder.
How is the Yamaha MT-15 different in India and Indonesia?
The India and Indonesia-spec Yamaha MT-15 are mechanically near-identical but tuned differently. While both share the same 155cc liquid-cooled engine with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation), the Indonesia's version makes slightly more power and torque. The Indonesian bike is also much lighter, sits lower, and has a fatter front rubber. Here are the differences:
|
Parameter |
India-spec MT-15 V2.0 |
Indonesian MT-15 |
|
Power |
18.4 PS @ 10,000 rpm |
19.3 PS (14.2 kW) @ 10,000 rpm |
|
Torque |
14.1 Nm @ 7,500 rpm |
14.7 Nm @ 8,500 rpm |
|
Weight |
141kg |
133kg |
|
Tyre Size |
100/80-17 |
110/70-17 (F) |
|
Ground Clearance |
170 mm |
155 mm |
|
Fuel Tank Capacity |
10 L (1.6 L reserve) |
10.4 L |
|
Wheelbase |
1,325 mm |
1,335 mm |
The gap in power and torque figures are likely due to different emission restrictions, and also the fact that the India-spec bike is E20-compliant, whereas the Indonesian one is only E5-compliant. Also, it’s likely that the Indian model has a higher ground clearance by design because, well… of our roads. More importantly, the Indonesian version skips out on ABS as it is not legally required there. This could’ve also played a role in the weight difference, with the Indonesian bike weighing a whole 8kg lighter.

- Unleashing the Beast within the V2The Yamaha MT 15 V2 is a top pick because it offers a perfect mix of style and performance for city riding Many riders choose it for the aggressive look that makes it stand out on the road Another big reason is the Variable Valve Actuation technology which gives you great power both at low speeds and when you are pushing it harder. It is also very light and easy to handle in heavy traffic while staying very fuel efficient It basically gives you the feel of a much bigger sport bike without the high running costs or the heavy weight. The ride is typically described as sharp and exciting because the bike feels very light and responsive. The upside down forks provide great stability and a planted feel when you are leaning into corners You probably notice that the engine is very refined and stays smooth until the variable valve actuation kicks in around seven thousand rpm giving you a sudden boost of power. The seating position is upright which is great for visibility and comfort in city traffic although the seat can feel a bit firm on longer journeys. Overall it is a bike that makes every short trip feel like a bit of an adventure because of how quickly it reacts to your inputs. The Yamaha MT 15 V2 is a great choice because it gives you high end technology like a slipper clutch and upside down forks in a small and manageable package. The engine uses the same high performance DNA found in the R15 which means you get incredible speed and acceleration for its class while still getting amazing fuel mileage It is also one of the best looking bikes on the road with an aggressive design that turns heads everywhere Another big plus is the upright riding position which makes it much more comfortable for daily commuting than a standard sport bike It is basically the perfect combination of a practical city bike and a thrilling performance machine that is easy to maintain and hold its value well over time.Read More29 8

- Refined 155cc beastCompared to other segment bikes its the most aggressive and refined bike I have ever riden, the weight of this bike is so light that even the mentioned torque and bhp seems not to be true, the power delivery of the bike is so responsive and the tech is so advance that the torque push can be felt post 7500 rpm. I own this bike for more than 5 years and never disappointed in this machine, the refinement and reliability of this engine is commendable. Kudos to Yamaha. The comfort level is not that great and wont recommend for pillion either unless you change the seat cushions, rest the riding posture is very comfortable and little bit aggressive which is a positive for cruising and aggressive riding. Overall comfortable and no such complaints for daily commute, for long rides, solo rides are comfortable but pillion rider will feel the discomfort. I would definitely recommend this bike for all the beginners who wants to flaunt the looks and aggression of entry level sports naked, It was my first bike and best decision of my life. Great mileage with ample of power.Read More12 8
