The brand has sold over 50,000 units for the first time in 10 months

KTM’s strategic move to bring in smaller displacement motorcycles for the masses seems to have worked wonders for the brand as it managed to rake in a little over 50,000 units sales in a span of just 10 months. A major chunk of the pie belongs to the entry-level KTM 125 Duke and RC 125 which roped in 22,384 unit sales in the last 10 months.

Second in line is the 200cc segment which consists of the 200 Duke and RC 200 - the first bikes from the Austrian brand to step foot in India. Despite the recent hike in prices, the bikes have been doing well for the brand and more often than not end up competing with their 125cc siblings in terms of sales. In fact, they managed to stay ahead of their entry-level siblings for four months out of the last 10. However, the more affordable 125 Duke and RC 125 still hold most of the stake and lead the way for KTM.

The KTM 250 Duke and 390 Duke make up the rest of the sales but still don’t match up to the Bajaj Dominar 400 and Royal Enfield 650 twins’ that have been chalking some impressive numbers ever since their launch.

That said, KTM will be expanding its portfolio in India with the launch of the mid-displacement streetfighter - the 790 Duke. The bike, which will arrive via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route, is set to be launched tomorrow with an expected price of Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
