Honda is planning to launch 10 new motorcycles in Thailand's two-wheeler market over the next 24 months. Honda will distribute these machine in the domestic market via AP Honda Co. (Its Official Distributer). To begin with, the Japanese manufacturer will introduce its mini sports bike named as MSX125SF, which will go on sale on February 26 and it will come at a price of around Bt 70,500 (Rs. 1.35 lac).

The 10 new motorcycles which will go on sale in the coming 2 years will include 5 completely new machines and five new variants of existing bikes. As of now, the company will only be introducing mini sports bike and details about remaining 9 models is yet to be announced.

Coming to the MSX125SF, the bike is powered by a 125cc, PGM-FI technology, air-cooled, 4-stroke engine. The bike has been fitted with engine kill switch for the safety purpose, disc brake at both front and rear ends, red caliper equipped with black cast wheels and board tyres. It also features all-new LED headlight and light blue positioning LED line, new fully digital instrument panel, new airplane fuel tank cap, new down-type muffler, new flip key and upside-down shock absorber.

Nobuhide Nagata, president of AP Honda Co. has said, “The domestic motorcycle market remained rather static last year, with total sales of 1.68 million units, or a 1% drop from the previous year. Honda sold 1.35 million units, maintaining our market leadership for 27 consecutive years. A factor that has made the domestic market static is Thailand already has a large number of motorcycle users while the economy didn’t see positive influence to boost the purchase. However, the big bike category is still growing, thanks to the high-end consumers in the city. Sales last year reached 19,000 units, a 20% increase. Honda sold about 6,900 units, or a 26% increase”.

He further added, “The big bike wasn’t the only category that is growing, but also other high-end motorcycles and hobby bikes that offer emotional values. It’s clear that contemporary Thai users do not only buy motorcycles as a vehicle for commuting, but also to have fun experiences and reflect their social status. A motorcycle has become a part of their lifestyle.”

Currently, Honda enjoying its moments as it is a dominating or leading manufacturer in Thailand with the sales figure of 1.35 million units out of a total of 1.68 million units sold in the market.
