Hero XPulse 210 vs Kawasaki KLX 230: Image Comparison

We compared both the dual-sport bikes to find out how they perform against each other, on paper

Hero MotoCorp has recently launched the new XPulse 210 at the Auto Expo 2025 with prices starting at Rs 1,75,800 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new XPulse 210 rivals the recently launched Kawasaki KLX 230 in the 200-250cc dual-sport bike segment.

We compared both bikes on paper and here’s how both the dual sport bikes compare against each other:

Design

The Hero XPulse 210 comes with a proper dual-sport stance. It has a similar silhouette as the Hero XPulse 200 4V but looks a lot different. The XPulse 210 gets a new H-shaped LED daytime running light, a tall windscreen, and a flatter seat than the XPulse 200. It also has different side panels, a sleek tail section and a longer tail rack for mounting luggage.

The Kawasaki KLX 230 looks smashing with its dirt bike-inspired design. It gets a single-piece headlight, a flat seat, dirt-bike-like fenders and slim bodywork, to make it easier to ride around on the off-road trails. Both bikes also get an upswept exhaust, which enhances their water-wading capacity.

The XPulse 210 comes in four colours: Glacier White, Wild Red, Azure Blue, and Alpine Silver. On the other hand, the KLX 230 is available in two colour schemes: Lime Green and Battle Grey.

Engine

The Hero XPulse 210 is now powered by a bigger 210cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, shared with the Karizma XMR 210. It produces a peak output of 24.6PS and 20.7Nm. Whereas, the Kawasaki KLX 230 gets a 233cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 19PS and 19.8Nm. Both bikes are paired to a 6-speed gearbox, but the XPulse also gets a slip-and-assist clutch. The XPulse is more powerful than the KLX as it makes 5.6PS and 0.9Nm more.

Features

The Hero XPulse 210 comes equipped with a 4.2-inch LCD/TFT instrument console, with smartphone connectivity offering call and SMS alerts, and turn-by-turn navigation. It also has a USB charging port. Rider aid features on the XPulse 210 includes a ride-by-wire throttle, switchable rear ABS and three riding modes: Road, Off-road and Rally.

On the other hand, the Kawasaki KLX 230 features a simple LCD instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity with call and SMS alerts, but misses out on turn-by-turn navigation. It also gets switchable rear ABS. Hence, the XPulse 210 is loaded with a lot more features and rider aid features as compared to the KLX 230.

Underpinnings

The 210cc XPulse has a telescopic fork (210mm suspension travel) and a 10-step preload-adjustable gas-charged monoshock (205mm suspension travel). Whereas, the Kawasaki KLX 230 is equipped with a telescopic fork (240mm wheel travel) and a monoshock (250mm of wheel travel).

The XPulses 210 uses 276mm front and 220mm petal disc brakes, with dual-channel ABS, while the braking setup on the KLX 230 consists of a 265mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc brake. Both bikes feature 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels and dual-sport tube tyres. This means that hardware-wise too, the XPulse looks to be more desirable between the two.

Verdict

The XPulse 210 is manufactured in India by Hero MotoCorp and starts at Rs 1,75,800 for the base variant and goes up to Rs 1,85,800 (ex-showroom) for the top variant. Whereas, the Kawasaki KLX 230 is sold as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) in India. Because of this, it is priced comparatively higher at Rs 3,30,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), almost twice as the XPulse base variant.

Hence, the Xpulse 210 performs better on paper. It is better in every way whether it is engine output, features or hardware. It also is expected to be a better bike for touring. Therefore, the XPulse is a better value for money bike and would be better for those long rides, but the Kawasaki KLX 230 will appeal to those who want a lightweight and capable bike, especially for off-road rides, trail hunting or even to practice and enhance your dirt bike riding skills.
