The all-new Yamaha R2 gets a sportier design inspired by the bigger YZF-R lineup. It features sharp body panels, while some of the design cues seem to be inspired by its bigger sibling sold internationally, like the YZF-R9. Overall, the design looks well-proportioned and gives the R2 a proper sportbike stance.

The R2 is powered by an all-new 204cc liquid-cooled engine that produces 26.5 PS and 19.1 Nm. The Yamaha R2 also gets three riding modes: Street, Sport and Rain, which alters power delivery according to the mode selected.

One of the main highlights of the R2 is the adjustable footpegs and adjustable brake and clutch levers. Which allows riders to customise them according to their requirements. The adjustable footpegs are particularly useful for spirited riding, as they can be moved slightly rear to offer more cornering clearance and reduce the chances of the pegs scraping while riding on a track.

The R2 also gets a good mix of connectivity and convenience features. It gets a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth and app connectivity, call/SMS alerts, turn-by-turn navigation and a USB Type-C charging port to charge your devices on the go.

The KTM RC 200 has a slightly more aggressive design than the Yamaha R2. Its split side panels add a sharp look to the motorcycle, while the exposed split-trellis frame gives it a sporty look.

Yamaha R2 vs KTM RC 200

The RC 200 is powered by a 199.5cc liquid-cooled engine that produces 25 PS and 19.2 Nm. Compared to the Yamaha R2, it makes 1.5 PS less power and 0.1 Nm more torque. But the high-compression engine is expected to give the initial pull that will excite you.

Yamaha R2 vs KTM RC 200

The KTM RC 200 features a LCD console  and Bluetooth connectivity, which includes call/SMS connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation. But it misses out on features such as traction control and ride modes, which is offered in the Yamaha R2.

    BikeDekho says

The Yamaha R2 and KTM RC 200 both make a strong proposition for someone looking for a sporty motorcycle. The R2 is the more feature-packed of the two, with a bi-directional quickshifter and adjustable components. We also expect it to offer the refinement levels Japanese motorcycle. However, all these added features come at a premium.

The KTM RC 200, on the other hand, is available in a single variant and misses out on some of these features. The Yamaha is also lighter than the RC 200, which should make it more nimble and easier to handle. Ultimately, the R2 offers more features and a lighter package, while the RC 200 should appeal to people who prefer outright power.
