The India-bound BMW G 310 R has been spotted testing in the country for the first time, hinting that its arrival is imminent.

After showcasing the Concept Stunt G 310 motorcycle at the 2015 Salao Duas Roda motorcycle show in Sao Paulo, BMW unveiled its production version, the G 310 R, in November 2015. Designed and engineered in Munich, Germany, the bike is said to be produced in India at the TVS factory in Tamil Nadu and is rumoured to be slated to launch in the Indian market soon. The company also made its debut in India at the 2016 Auto Expo in February and now the bike has been spotted testing for the first time on Indian roads. The test mule was completely uncamouflaged, making it easy to identify the bike and hinting at a nearing launch date as well.

A fellow passenger, Chris Calvin, captured the test mule cruising on the road in a video and uploaded it on Youtube. Although the video lacks clarity one can easily recognise the blue BMW G 310 R.

Along with an aggressive naked sport styling, the BMW G 310 R features inverted (USD) front forks, rear mono-shock suspension, front and rear disc brakes, and wide tyres. Powering the bike is an all-new 313cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with four-valves and dual overhead camshafts (DOHC). Using an electronic fuel injection system, it makes up to 33.5bhp and delivers torque up to 28Nm, and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.

The BMW G 310 R is expected to arrive in the Indian market in mid-2016, with a price tag of around Rs. 2.5 lakh. Once launched in the country, it will challenge the likes of KTM 390 Duke, Benelli TNT 300, Kawasaki Z250 and the Mahindra Mojo 300.
