The concept is powered by the 689cc parallel-twin motor from the MT-07

Even if Yamaha is to deny it, the T7 concept is most likely to be the replacement for the popular Super Ténéré in the coming years. Unveiled at the ongoing 2016 EICMA in Milan, the T7 concept is an extreme adventure bike that takes inspiration from the XT600Z Ténéré that was introduced by Yamaha 33 years back.

The T7 concept bike is powered by the 689cc parallel-twin CP2 engine currently used in the MT-07 sold in the market. To better suit the characteristics of the adventure bike, the engine has undergone few performance changes but Yamaha is tight-lipped about the details. The concept bike has been put together with contribution from Yamaha’s official rally team riders, and engineers from France. The project also had the involvement of the R&D team from Italy and its GK design team in Netherlands.

The bike has been built around an all-new chassis with an aluminium fuel tank, long slim seat, carbon fibre fairing and skid plate. It also gets quad LED lights and a custom-made Akrapovi? exhaust system. Suspension duties are handled by high-specification KYB front suspension and the rear suspension?. Staying true to rally nature, the T7 concept features a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear one with block-tread tyres.

Expect a production version of the T7 concept bike to emerge by 2018.
