The V-Strom 650 XT is the only ADV with spoke wheels and tubeless tyres in its segment in India

Suzuki seems to be on a roll recently in India. After the launch of its naked CKD product, the GSX-S750, the Japanese bikemaker has now launched the V-Strom 650 XT at Rs 7,46,000 (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

The Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT looks properly purposeful with a beak-type front fairing, oval projector headlamp and a matching yellow-black-grey paint scheme. The XT variant comes with standard handguard, engine cowl and spoke wheels with tubeless Bridgestone Battlax Adventure A40 tyres. Suzuki has also offered a generous 20-litre fuel tank to ensure good riding range. The pannier brackets have been designed to be similar to the V-Strom 1000, so that panniers compatible with the bigger bike can be used for this one as well. The bike gets an analogue-digital combo cluster that displays crucial information like range, ambient temperature, fuel consumption and the likes. A 12V DC outlet is standard too.

Powering this ADV is a 645cc, liquid-cooled, V-twin motor that makes 71PS at 8800rpm and 62.3Nm of torque at 6500rpm. The output is reined in by two-mode switchable traction control system and two-level riding modes. For more convenience, there’s a low-rpm assist that prevents stalling at low speeds. There’s also the Suzuki Easy Start System for effortless starts.

Suspension duties are handled by 43mm telescopic front forks and link-type adjustable monoshock at the rear. Dual 310mm front discs and a 260mm rear disc bring this 216kg (wet) behemoth to a halt. They get standard dual-channel ABS too.

The V-Strom competes with the Kawasaki Versys 650 (Rs 6.69 lakh, ex-showroom), and is available in Champion Yellow and Pearl Glacier White colour options. For the Indian market, a saree guard and front number plate bracket are included as part of standard equipment.
