A recent chat with company's president, Rudratej Singh, reveals interesting details about the company’s upcoming projects
According to our earlier report, we were expecting Royal Enfield to launch the highly anticipated 650 Twins - Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 - somewhere between October and November. Now, a recent chat with the company's president, Rudratej Singh, reveals that may not be the case anymore.
We already knew that the Chennai-based manufacturer will be launching the two motorcycles in the international markets in the last week of September. Keeping that timeline in mind, the Indian launch was expected around Diwali. However, Singh was quick to dismiss these speculations stating the company "needs to build up stock before entering the Indian market."
He also stated that the company is working on enhancing its showroom experience and wants to expand its network to meet the heavy demand. This statement clearly indicates that the company is expecting a higher sales volume. When asked about the expected sales projections, however, Singh refused to comment. Further, during the chat, Singh also confirmed the possibility of different variants for the 650 Twins. While he didn't dwell into the details, considering RE's recent track record, we expect the 650 Twins to get a few army-themed limited edition variants as well.
Ever since Royal Enfield announced its first twin-cylinder engine, we've all been wondering if the Himalayan could be next in line to be equipped with it. Considering the current flagship is marketed as an adventure-tourer, it could use the added bit of refinement offered by an extra cylinder. When asked about its possibility, Singh said, "It could happen, but not for another 2 to 3 years.” We'll take his word on that.
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 have been two of the most highly anticipated motorcycles ever since their debut at EICMA last year. This is mainly due to the manufacturer’s brand new 650cc, parallel-twin, oil-cooled engine, which was developed from the ground up. This motor produces 47.7PS of power and 52Nm of torque, with fuel injection as standard. The 6-speed gearbox will also be the first seen on any Royal Enfield. Considering their flagship positioning, we’re expecting a price tag of around Rs 3 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh. For a more in-depth look at the two bikes, click here. We’ll be bringing the latest updates from the Royal Enfield camp. Until then, stay tuned!
Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 User Reviews
Its good bike only if you can handle it because of its weigth and high cc, its not beginner friendly but if you have experience with high cc and heavy bike its gonna be best bike for its price. but its still not good for day to day or city driving because of its heating and low mileage, its gonna be a problem.Read More
I wanted good classy looking cool bike and GT 650 is exactly what I wanted, it has no competitor. If given second chance of choosing bike, I would still pick this up instead of speedy KTM bikes. Only problem it has is the weight is hard to manage and it can be hard to turn in corners but I knew what I was buying. Its a good bike, I have some burn marks on my legs but that is what I expect it gets hot and you can feel the heat in city but it won't shut down and cause issue, you should treat it like a 600 cc bike and properly respect its weight in corners and city. Only if you have other bikes and cars. This being your primary day to day bike is not can be easy to use in a city or day to day commute to office. It will be too much of power and weight. Only buy for highways and sunday ride.Read More
That bulky boy and speed makes the bike very attractive and muscular and it gives the vibe that other bike can't give you if you'er going to college or office the royal enfild continental gt 650 would be the best option. Eventually its good for mileage and comfort for short rides if you have the capacity for riding on full throttle then you will get deficiencies for mileage, if we ride like a gentleman then we can feel the comfort and safety. If you can maintain the bike and do proper maintenance it would be a great option to choose because this bike has its own aura and there is no similar bike like royal enfiled gt 650 in the market for a middle call this bike is best. Performance on Terrain man! the bike handles "even on uneven roads" and has a "strong pickup" compared to others in its class. Costs maintenance is minimal and specifically bought it for "fuel saving" to avoid recurring petrol costs. the gear shifts as "soft" and the engine as remaining "smooth" even after a year of riding ~40 km daily. Recommend for both beginners and daily office commuters.Read More
